chapter thirteen:

*if song doesn't work on mobile: ** don't have a song picked out yet sorry.. ** *

After nearly an hour of just sitting outside with Carter he finally made it clear why he was so glad to find me at the party.

"I have an offer to make you."

I groaned throwing my hands up to cover my ears, "I don't want to make any deals with you."

He leaned forwards taking my wrist in his hands, preventing me from blocking out whatever he had to say.

"It's not stupid. I promise."

I nodded slowly, "Right." I drawled out.

I was just waiting for him to say something ridiculous. Something that would definitely make me want to get up and leave.

"So I heard that you're interested in me." I scoffed but he gave me a look to shut up, before he continued on. "And I think it's pretty obvious to you, that I am interested in you as well. So, if you wont give me any information to get to know you with nothing in return..."

"We are not playing twenty one questions."

He chuckled shaking his head at my tone. "No, but I am offering to give you information about me."

I nodded, intrigued. From the beginning there had always been something about Carter that made the gears in my head turn. I knew that something was up with him and quite frankly ever since Evan told me he wasn't the best person.. well lets just say my interest had peaked.

"Okay, so whats the catch. What do I have to do to get this information?" I questioned leaning back on my hands.

He smirked. "You have to agree to be friends with me."

I rolled my eyes, "Aren't we already friends?"

He gave me a slanted look, "Yeah no. I mean actual friends."

I was quiet for a couple moments. Although I didn't really enjoy the fact of being real friends with Carter I guess it was worth it if he was actually as intriguing as he seemed.

"Fine, but no calling me your BFF or doing dumbs stuff. I will not hangout with you and your guy friends to hear you bitch about sports and girls. I will not be there at one in the morning when you're sad because the girl you tried to get with wont answer her phone."

He raised his hands "Woah, I didn't plan on doing any of those things. Trust me I didn't take you as the type of person who would want to gossip about clothing.. which may I add I would not do, I'm not a girl."

"I think it's pretty clear that you are in fact male." I pointed out dryly.

"Look I don't need you to be my 'best friend forever' I just want to be your friend. Genuine fiends. I know you've been through hell and back so why not have a friend. Plus this way I can get to know you, without questioning you every time we talk."

I let out another sigh, "You're brain works weird you know that."

"Plus if you really wanted to be friends you didn't need to ask, just be my friend."

I added scrunching my eyebrows together.

"How about you drop the offer because it doesn't really make sense and just be my friend with no contract or strings in mind."

He nodded tightly "Right, I guess that all was a little weird."

I hummed in agreement.

"So it's settled, how about we start this again?"
