((/: A.N: Hey y'all! By the way, I posted a Hollyleaf and Leafpool PMV on my Youtube Channel called Jaded which I will put at the end of this chapter if you all want to watch it! It's also on my Wattpad Story for all my MAPs and PMVs, so you can watch it there if you would like. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
(((FLOWERKIT'S POV)))
I lay in my nest with my head on my paws, watching as cats moved beside me. My scarred eye felt a little blurry, but I was too exhausted to go to the medicine den. For some reason, my bones had been feeling hollow and tired recently, and besides, I didn't want to go there while Jayfeather and Alderheart were busy treating Bramblestar- I didn't want to be a burden.
Squirrelflight had been anxiously checking on Bramblestar over the last few days.
He'd been unconscious, but twitching constantly.
And Icepool had been acting weird.
She seemed...distant, somehow. She would watch the medicine den and try to see Bramblestar in one of his twitching episodes, and I could have sworn I could hear her muttering to herself every time she thought everyone in the nursery was asleep.
I had made my own nest, separate from Shadekit and Moonkit and Icepool. I just preferred to have my own nest where I could feel the empty draft beside me and know that there was an open and clear path to the exit of the nursery.
I didn't like to be in small spaces, or pressed against.
Or touched.
While Shadekit and Moonkit were playing moss ball or having Mistpaw- she'd become an apprentice by now- teach them a hunting crouch, I huddled in the nursery or I sat in the elders den with Brightheart.
She didn't look at me like I was a weird, scarred, walking mess at least.
To be honest, no cat looked at me meanly, just...piteously.
I didn't want to have pity.
I wanted to be respected and feared and loved.
Why was that so hard for them to understand?
And the best part of the day was when I snuck out at night to meet Menace. I was often too scared to walk in the forest at night, so Menace would sneak into ThunderClan territory and meet me near the camp entrance.
Then, we'd go to our clearing and he'd teach me how to hunt, or just race and play.
And I started calling him Ace.
He looked so proud of himself the first time I called him Menace that I just couldn't help but wipe that satisfied, smug, grin off his face.
Then he laughed and I laughed too and we were both laughing.
(((ICEPOOL'S POV)))
I paced outside of the medicine den.
Bramblestar's eyes had turned blue.
Bramblestar's eye had not turn blue.
Bramblestar's eyes had turn blue.
I needed to see his twitching episode again to be sure, but Jayfeather and Alderheart seemed set on making my mission as hard as possible.
Squirrelflight's protectiveness over him certainly didn't help.
To make matters just worse, I was sure Flowerkit had snuck out of camp last night, but I had no way to prove or be sure of it, and it was driving me crazy.
I had half a mind to ask her about it, but I was too worried she would lie and be more careful next time- then I wouldn't ever catch her.
Besides...
What would she be doing there anyway?
"Jayfeather, does Bramblestar need water?" I tried to come into the medicine den again.
"No! Go away!" Jayfeather snapped.
Typical Jayfeather.
Why wasn't I surprised?
"I won't bother you!" I tried to promise.
"Stop acting like you're an apprentice and go do your warrior duties!" Jayfeather hissed.
I sighed and backed away.
This is impossible!
(((FLOWERKIT'S POV)))
I sniffed the fresh-kill pile hopefully.
Squirrelflight had just announced that as soon as Bramblestar woke up again, me and my littermates would become apprentices.
Personally, I thought my apprentice name Flowerpaw would be awesome.
Shadekit and Moonkit were just as excited, and Squirrelflight had agreed to apprentice Moonkit to Alderheart so she could be a medicine cat- her forever dream that I would never understand.
Anyhow, I finally decided to ask Jayfeather for medicine for my blurry eye, although I paused at the entrance of the medicine den.
Something was thrashing around inside, and I froze.
An image of a fox thumping heavily towards me made me stumble a few steps backwards, but when i blinked again, it was gone.
But the thrashing noise wasn't.
I poked my head into the medicine den and saw Jayfeather and Alderheart trying to hold Bramblestar down.
Bramblestar's eyes flitted open for a half-second, and I bit back a shriek of shock.
I was sure Bramblestar's eyes had always been amber, hadn't they?
So why were they just blue?
