(((FLOWERKIT'S POV)))
Flowerkit sat beside her brother and sister, Shadekit and Moonkit. Shadekit's fur was fluffed out was excitement, and Moonkit wouldn't stop talking.
"I'll get to learn about herbs and talk to StarClan and try out poppy seeds and-"
"Moonkit, you won't need to put patients to sleep with poppy seeds! Just talk them to sleep." Flowerkit mewed exasperatedly.
"Flowerkit! We're going to be apprentices! Be excited!" Moonkit nudged her.
"Aren't you excited?" Shadekit mewed quietly.
"Sure, the kit with a scar on her eye and a damaged hind leg is going to be super excited to be an apprentice." Flowerkit grumbled.
"At least she'll get along well with Jayfeather." Moonkit meowed positively, and Flowerkit swatted at her gently with her tail.
I miss Menace.
"Who do you think will be our mentors?" Shadekit asked Flowerkit.
"Maybe Squirrelflight will be your mentor. Maybe Bristlefrost." Flowerkit shrugged.
I miss Menace.
"Alderheart should be a good mentor for you, Moonkit." Shadekit told Moonkit, giving up on trying to cheer Flowerkit up.
"Kits! Be quiet! The ceremony is starting!" Icepool whispered in their ears. She was sitting behind them with her eyes shining with pride.
Bramblestar had woken up recently and now that he was better, had gone back to his usual duties.
(I hope i get the apprentice call right...)
Flowerkit started to zone out as she distantly heard Bramblestar apprentice Shadekit to Rootspring (I know Rootspring is young but just look at his fluffy little face...). Moonkit was apprenticed to Alderheart, then at last, my turn came along.
"Flowerkit, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
Flowerkit nodded numbly. "I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your apprentice name. Until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Flowerpaw."
"Flowerpaw!"
"Flowrpaw!"
"Flowerpaw!"
"I will be your mentor." Bramblestar finished.
Flowerpaw almost didn't hear him and blinked in shock.
The clan leader is mentoring me, the crippled apprentice? He's got to be joking.
Icepool narrowed her eyes slightly as if she didn't like the idea of Bramblestar mentoring Flowerpaw either.
What's going on here?
