Chapter 42

I looked up to him but he’s already sleeping.

I shook my head and decided to avoid my gaze on his ring. I’m sure he’ll take it off later.

“Baby. . .” Grayson’s voice that made me woke up.

I opened my eyes and smiled at him. He’s already dressed up, sitting on the bed while caressing my face. He leaned in to kiss my lips so I reached my hand to hug him.

“You hungry?” He asked in his gentle tone while I was hugging him, his face beside my neck.

He was kind of heavy but I missed his embraced this long so it’s okay.

“White.” I pecked his temple. “White. White. White.” I repeated while pecking his temple.

He giggled like the child White I used to know.

“My plan got ruined, now. I was planning to surprise you on the day of our wedding.” He pecked my cheeks.

I smiled and hugged him tighter.

“I won’t let you go, again. Promise.” I uttered with so much assurance.

But I never did thought I’ll chew my own words someday.

“Let me go. . .” I begged.

We didn’t even last a month of getting back and yet here I am, breaking my promise I just made weeks ago.

I’m such a terrible girlfriend.

“No. Not again please. Don’t leave. . .” He held my hands tighter, begging once again.

I shook my head and wiped my tears off.

“You are getting married!” I shouted with full of rage.

“No! I won’t make it happen!”

I removed the ring off my finger and threw it as far as I can towards the swimming pool.

Everything was dark and only few lights from the building were left here. I don’t know why is no one here in the swimming pool area or why the restaurants near here were closed but I don’t care because all I need to focus right now is how he should let me go.

His eyes that were looking at me with confusion, pain and sadness left my heart with misery and anguish drowning again in its melancholic sea.

“I-I don’t want to let you go. Please stay with me. . .” He whispered as he shook his head consecutive times.

I shook my head and covered my face with my palms.

You don’t understand.

I need to let you go.

He hugged me tight and I can’t help but to sob in his arms. It’s just hard letting him go.

“Please, don’t leave me. I will not get married with any woman except for you. And my stepmom can’t do anything about it.” He gripped my waist and leaned his head on my shoulder.

I tried to push him away but my hands were tired and trembling that it didn’t even made him dodged a gap.

I cried hard the moment I remembered what Lia said yesterday.

“He has schizophrenia.” She cried.

That left me dumbstruck with terror. At the moment, I became dumb for a second, wishing It was not what I think it is.

“Lia.” I tried to gave her my forced smile. “What are you doing outside my unit? It’s already night. Are you drunk?” I managed to act composed although my heart was already at its ferocious state.
