"I finally found you," i smiled at her trying to regain my breath, And she stared at me in disbelief. I dropped the idea of recounting how many times I had run through the same corridor because she wasn't in the nurse's office, while I assumed she had returned to the auditorium.
"What are you doing here?" she questioned anxiously, making room for me as I settled down beside her.
"Wrong question. Why did you ignore my calls?" I inquired.
"I was going to text you," she responded nervously.
"So you chose to ignore my calls instead? Do you have any idea how worried I was?" I pressed, and her expression fell sadder lapsing into silence.
"Okay, if you don't want to talk right now, I get it!" I said, trying to lighten the mood. She managed a faint smile, and I returned it.
"I'm sorry, Evyaan."
"I messed up your performance," she apologized, her gaze fixed on her hands, fingers tracing the mole on her ring finger.
"You did?" I responded. She shot me a puzzled look.
"I thought it was the management's fault for being irresponsible and disregarding student safety. I don't understand why you blame yourself," I remarked, shifting my gaze to the serene sky above.
"But I caused a scene, and I struggle with...... serious social anxiety," she confessed breathing out loudly, her hands trembling as she finished. It was evident that sharing this was a significant step for her, and I felt honoured that she trusted me with such personal information.
"I see. Well, I'm allergic to nuts and dust," I revealed, hoping to lighten the mood. She appeared even more confused.
"What? You should know in case I cause a scene someday," I added, attempting a joke.
"It's not about causing a scene, Evyaan. It's about allergies, something we can't control," she explained softly.
"Exactly. It's not within our control," I affirmed, locking eyes with her. In that moment, I could see how my words reached her, it felt like we were communicating telepathically. They silently urged me to linger a little longer. My heart skipped a beat when her beautiful hair fell on her face, momentarily taking my breath away in the most beautiful way possible.
She blinked breaking the contact and we both awkwardly diverted our gaze at the sky, realizing the unusual moment we were sharing.
I smiled, not regretting a bit, thinking that I could gaze into those deep brown eyes forever, another detail I picked up was her eyes and hair share the same mesmerizing colour.
We sat in silence for a while until I noticed the guitar by her side.
"What's this?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Anaya's guitar,"
"She handed it to you?" I asked, and she nodded.
A surge of annoyance washed over me at the thought of her friends.
