I was in the parking lot of the Pit Pub. To my surprise, I saw Matt’s scrambler. Of course I knew Matt’s scrambler I couldn’t be wrong. He was really here. He came just like what he said.
I entered on the tavern and looked for my friends. They were all in the crook of the pub, on our favorite seat. Matt was there sitting beside Cheska. I walked to their place.
“Hey Alice, finally you’re here. C’mon sit here.” Nicole offered me a seat beside Matt.
“I thought you’re joking of coming here tonight.” I whispered to Matt. He just smiled.
“C’mon guys let’s dance!” I saw Andrew and Jess coming near our table. Jess pulled me and carried me to the dance floor. Matt was left on the table. The dance floor was filled with people dancing around but I could still see Matt on his seat. He was talking on his phone. Someone might call him and he couldn’t catch the caller on the other line so he went outside.
When I felt a little weary, I went back to the table but Matt wasn’t coming back yet so I went outside. Matt was there sitting on his scrambler.
“Hey.” I went to his direction. “Why’d you left?”
“Mom called.”
“Oh I see. Come let’s get back inside.” I turned my back from him but he held my arm.
“Something’s wrong, Matt?”
“Can we talk?” I felt a bit anxious. My heart pumped so fast. Matt’s face was so somber and this ain’t a good thing.
“Yeah sure. What about?” He kept silent. My mind was pounding, my heart was beating fast. Is he going to break up with me? If that’s it, I’ll try not to refuse, I was expecting it before and I was ready to face it. (Prejudging?)
“Matt, what’s the matter? Tell me. Please tell me.” He looked deep into my eyes and I was trying to figure out what he wanted to say but he rode on his scrambler and without any word he started the engine and gone in front of me. I was left standing and hanging here alone.
What’s the matter with that asshole? It’s really hard to figure out that son-of-a-b*tch! I shook my head in disappointment.
“Alice, where’s Matt?” Jess was standing next to Andrew.
“He’s gone. I don’t know, he asked me if we could talk but he left me with no words. He’s so─”
“Come on in, let’s go. You know your boyfriend was slight silly.” She chuckled.
I was still bothered with Matt. There was something in him that he couldn’t say and I wanted to know what was that. I must to know it. I have to. I wasn’t having a decent time at all anyway so I talked to Jess and to the others and advised them that I was going home.
“What? It’s too early, Alice.”
“I’m not feeling well. I should rest.”
“Alright. We’ll going to drive you home.”
“No I’ll be fine, I can drive my scrambler.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. Bye.”
When I was home I got my phone and tried to call Matt, but his phone was off. I thought of Matt all night. I fell asleep thinking of Matt.
The next morning I received a message from Matt. It said:
From: Baby Matt
I’m sorry about last night. I didn’t mean to leave you at the pub. I’m sorry.
