Matthew Miller
It was possible that Ben didn’t know where Alice was. Maybe they really separated their ways after college. But it was impossible with Carlo. I knew how much he was bounded with his twin sister. I knew them. I made it real what I told Alice on my E-mail to her yesterday. I was puzzled after the last night we were together. She left me with no account. She left me leaving nothing but inquiries. I tried to see her on her cousin’s house in Limoges but Amy told me she already left. According to her, Alice just left her a note on the table when she woke up.
I knew we had an agreement. I knew that we talked about the deal. That everything will be over as soon as she came home. I would not ruin that, but she didn’t even give me the chance to say goodbye to her. She even left her cellphone to me. Was she mad at me? Because of that night? But she was the one who asked for it.
When I came here in New York, I checked-in in a hotel near the town. I just got some sleep and went to Alice’s house in SB. But nobody was there. The house was locked and the cars were not parked.
I tried to inquire to their neighbors but they didn’t know where Alice was. They knew Alice went to France but never seen her came to that house at all.
I went to the hotel to have some rest. This was a very long and tiring day. I went to the bathroom to splash my face with water when I recalled what just happened for this day.
“Mr. Collin, someone named Matthew Miller would like to talk to you.” The writing desk stated on the intercom connected to the office of a chap I needed to talk with.
“Let him in.”
“This way sir.” The desk personnel lead me to an office. We entered on it when I saw a man sitting on a swivel chair. He looked even more descent than before. He was so neat and looked very brilliant. Good thing one of their neighbors in SB advice me to see Carlo to fin Alice.
“Matt, it’s good to see you here. What’s up with you? Take a seat.” He was so casual and friendly just like the old times.
“How are you, Matt? It’s been so long.”
“Yeah I’m fine. I came back from France. Carlo, there’s no point of beating around the bush here. I was just wondering where I could find Alice. I went to your house in SB but she’s not there. I knew she came home but I have no idea where she is. Carlo, where is Alice?” He just looked at me.
“I don’t know. I never know she’s already here. I didn’t hear any news. I wasn’t informed.”His eyes revealed that he was lying. Such a pretty liar.
