It was Nightmare Night in Maretime Bay Hitch had planed many events for the town ponies to do while we had other plans at the Brighthouse "Nightmare Night is officially upon uuuuus... todaaaaay!" said Hitch at a town meeting "Huh?" said everypony "I mean... toniiiight!" he said everypony stand silent Hitch cleared his throat "It's the spookiest night of the year, and I've made sure tonight's is going to be our most exciting celebration yet!" said Hitch pulling out a board "Pipp helped me with this "inspo" board, and we got something for everypony! Trick-or-treating! Costume contests! Trick-or-treating while participating in a costume contest! Wait, that was a typo. Where was I? Oh, yes! Pumpkin patches! And my favorite! Our annual game to find the "golden pumpkin"! " he said Nopony said anything "Come on, Hitch. You're losing them" he said in a hushed tone to himself he turned back to the crowd "Did I mention the winner will win a big mystery prize?!" he said "I want a prize!" yelled a young pony "Okay!" said a Unicorn "Yes! Now this is what I'm talking about!" said Sweets "Big prize?! I want that!" said Rocky Riff to Jazz "So what do you think it is? A treasure trove of treats?!" said Jazz "A gourd dipped in gold?!" said Rocky "Rocky, that's basically what the "golden pumpkin" already is" said Jazz they then yelled together "A treasure trove of treats dipped in gold!" "Bet ya I can find it first!" challenged Rocky "Not if I'm the first one racing!" Laughed Jazz running off "Hey, wait! No fair!" said Rocky chasing after her "All right, everypony! Have fun, stay safe, and make sure you check out every single event I've prepared!" said Hitch "Why? Is there a prize for that, too?" said Toots "Yes! The prize of a good time!" said Hitch Toots looked unimpressed "Okay, fine. Town meeting adjourned" said Hitch deflated a the crowd dispersed Sparky then held up a golden Pumpkin to Hitch "Oh, no, Sparky! I forgot to hide the golden pumpkin!" he cried
We gathered at the Together Tree to share what we were dressing up as "Soooo? What's everypony's Nightmare Night costume?" asked Pipp "I'll start! I'm dressing up as a scary witch, not a cute witch! Mom would never let us go full spooky at home, so I'm makin' up for it" she said "And I'm gonna be a vampony! The awesome kind" said Zipp "And I'm gonna be a magician! Just a regular magician" said Misty "Good gourds!" yelled Izzy "Pardon?" I asked "That's what I'm dressing up as. My favorite gourds. Because they're all too precious to just pick one. And Hitch, stop sneaking around and tell us what you're gonna be!" asked Izzy Hitch hidden the golden pumpkin behind him "I'm gonna be a pirate with my trusty parrot Sparky!" he said showing Sparky in a parrot costume "You're the cutest parrot I've ever seen!" said Sunny "Who's a parrot? You're a parrot! Yeah, you are!" cooed Pipp "So cute!" said Izzy Hitch then hidden the pumpkin among the other pumpkins around the Tree "Phew!" Sparky saw that the pumpkins were disappearing at the base of the tree and tried to tell us but all the came out of his mouth was gurgling "You're really nailing this whole "parrot thing"! Great job, buddy!" said Hitch Sunny's phone then beeped "It's Xavier he say's we're running out of time to get ready!" said Sunny "Let's go get spooky! Whoo!" sang Pipp The pony that was putting the Pumpkins around the Tree came by and saw they were gone "Hey, where'd my pumpkins go?" he asked "Soooo? What are everypony's favorite Nightmare Night traditions?" I asked "I'll start! Mom always said, "Princesses are sophisticated, not spooky." But I've been flexing my scary side ever since I got here" said Pipp "That's the "fear-fun factor"! When you scream the loudest, then laugh the hardest. It's my favorite!" she said "Wait, so you ponies like being scared?" asked Misty a bit confused "Uh, duh! It's what this holiday's all about. And why I'm planning the super-detailed haunted house of my dreams! I mean, nightmares! I'm turning the Crystal Brighthouse into... the Crystal Frighthouse!" said Pipp "Nicely done" said Zipp "You've been working on that one haven't you?" I asked "Thank you and yes I was working on that rhyme all week" said Pipp "I love this idea, Pipp! What can we do to help? Should I peel a bowl full of grapes and say they're eyeballs?!" asked Izzy "What else goes into a "Frighthouse"?" asked Misty "It's basically anything your spooky heart desires! And then you make it your own" said Pipp "Yeah, yeah, yeah! I always love to put up the weirdest, wildest lights display on the whole block!" said Izzy "I have to build my super-complex nightmare maze!" said Zipp "And I must cook up a traditional spread of Nightmare Night food specialties!" said Sunny "Yes! Yes! A million times yes!" said Pipp Sunny the saw me in a suit "What are you dress as?" she asked "Lucifer Morning Star" I said "Lucifer Morning Star as in.." began Sunny "The Devil yes exactly" I said Misty: gasped then laughed
"As an Earth pony, I have the clear edge to win. I've been playing this game since I was a filly" Jazz said to Rocky "And as a newcomer, I have the clear edge. I can look at all the places you wouldn't think twice to" said Rocky back "Yes, but I'll look thrice to the locations you'll think twice to look—" began ban Jazz but Rocky took off "See you at the finish! When you're congratulating me on my prize!" said Rocky "Hey, no fair!" called Jazz though this whole celebration Opaline watch in her view pool "Ah, enjoy your leaves now, you silly ponies, because... Wait. Why are they enjoying leaves? Is this some weird gardening celebration?" she asked she took a step back and tripped on a pumpkin she looked around and saw there were a lot of them "Has Misty been decorating again?" she asked another pumpkin poof into exists "If their silly pumpkins can go from there to here, then... I may have finally discovered a path into Maretime Bay! One that Twilight and Xavier never accounted for!" she said and started to laughing maniacally Pipp flew around the Brighthouse checking things off "Kitchen prepped for Nightmare Night treats? Check! Trotway transformed into a maze of shadows? A-maze! Basement door turned into... Well, pretty much the same as it was before, but it was pretty spooky then! So that is a yes!" she said a sheet buzzing an alarm flew past her under the sheet was Zipp's drone "Introducing the Ponydrone from a Tombstone! 'Cause it looked like a ghost. Get it?" said Zipp "Love it! Leave it! Make sure the sheet doesn't reveal it!" said Pipp Izzy outside had her lights ready to shine "This'll be the most excellent acorn light show Equestria has ever seen!" she said I put a pair of sunglass on expecting them to be too bright this was Izzy come on Izzy flicked the switch a beam of light shot out blinding Pipp "Mostly because they won't be able to see anything else after. But still, great work!" said Pipp bumping into the door
Hitch was trying to get ponies to sign up for different events "Pin the husk on the corn cob! Here it is! Your favorite Nightmare Night activity with... no line! And here it is! Your costume contest sign-ups! With not one, not two, but twelve different sub-categories! All the rules are on this handy dandy informational flyer!" he said they just walked past him "And no line for that activity either? Huh? Come on, ponies! You truly haven't experienced Nightmare Night until you've experienced all of it! Plan your night!" said Hitch Misty came into the Kitchen were Sunny was getting ready to cook "Wow! You did an amazing job transforming the kitchen into a mad scientist's lab, Sunny!" she said "Oh! Uh, actually, this is just how it normally looks when I cook" said Sunny "You look like you could use some help" asked Misty "Oh, no, I'm an old pro at this Oh! But I guess an extra set of hooves couldn't hurt" said Sunny "So what are the Nightmare Night treats, anyways?" asked Misty "Oh, just a few things" said Sunny she took a deep breath and started list off everything Misty took out a note pad and started to right down what Sunny was saying "Apples for bobbing, caramel apples, apple spice smoothies. Oh! Juggling apples, carving apples, apples to draw spooky little faces on" sunny took in another breath "Fried apple spice donuts, baked apple cinnamon cobbler, frosted apple spice cakes, apple-flavored water, which is just like regular water but you add apple pulp to it So I guess it's technically a juice" finished Sunny "Mm-hmm. Wow. That's... a lot of apples" said Misty "These Nightmare Nights treats were my favorite Nightmare Night tradition from when I was a filly. And I want everything to be exactly as I remembered it for tonight's Crystal Frighthouse So we gotta get moving!" said Sunny "Thanks again for the help, Misty. I couldn't have done this without you!" said Sunny "Uh, sure" said Misty
