Kenny and Leo were in Clyde's room for a few hours.
They didn't share many words after Kenny had opened up to him about how lonely it was to live with immortality. In fact, they had spent most of the time sitting next to each other in silence. Leo refused to take his hand off the scar on Kenny's forearm. He wasn't leaving him alone.
Eventually, they both felt okay enough to leave the room. Kenny knew that he needed to explain to his sister what was going on, especially after she had seen him having a breakdown. He also owed Craig an apology for having to deal with all of this. He never wanted his friends to have to get involved. They didn't deserve this.
Since he knew how Craig was, Kenny dreaded having that conversation. Leo recognized this when Kenny took to dragging his feet down the stairs, going as slowly as humanly possible. He almost rolled his eyes at his friend, but after spending some amount of time with Craig the night before, Leo felt like he shouldn't judge.
Tricia, Karen and Craig were sitting in the living room, watching a random movie; their heads snapped over to them as soon as the wood creaked, however. All three of them stared at the injured boys in silence - covered in bruises and cuts, Kenny guessed that they looked a bit insane.
"Kar?" Kenny croaked out, cringing slightly at his hoarse voice. "I need to talk to you."
She complied without a word, walking with him to the office on the other side of the living room for privacy. Karen sat in a chair in Mr. Donovan's office, facing away from her brother slightly. After seeing him disturbed earlier, she couldn't bear to look at him again, and see the same thing. Kenny was the strong one, if something was happening to make him upset, she felt like she should be scared.
"Um, a lot of stuff has happened recently." Kenny didn't like the way that sounded, he rolled his eyes at himself. He sounded like a damn adult. "Kar, the Irish Mob wants Leo and I dead. They killed David. You aren't safe at home, I don't even know when we can go back.."
She was stuck on the part about the Mob, rightfully. "Seriously?! Why would they want to kill you, Ken?!"
Sitting down across from her now, Kenny had a lot to explain. He was going to tell her about everything - including his immortality. This was too much to put on someone as young as her, yet he didn't feel right keeping her out of things like this. She was his sister, she had a right to know if she wasn't safe.
It took about an hour for her to grasp what was going on. Knowing everything didn't make Karen feel any better; now, she was worried about Kevin, who they hadn't seen in a couple of weeks. Kenny assured her that Kevin would be fine, they had no reason to bother their older brother. Although it was difficult to process for a fourteen-year old, she understood now why her brothers hated their parents so much.
Karen surprisingly believed his immortality the easiest, despite the fact that she had never seen him die. Their mother had been subtly telling her about his abilities since she could remember, she even thought she remembered one of his funerals when he was eight. Either way, she chose to believe him in the end because she trusted him. Kenny wouldn't lie about something like that.
Leo couldn't sit still on the couch the entire time they were gone. Kenny had left him alone with Craig, and he could feel his eyes boring into him. It made his skin crawl. Leo kept looking back to the closed office door, waiting for Kenny to come out and save him from Craig's judgmental looks. Leo was even more unnerved by Craig's stares since he remembered seeing him and Kenny kiss not too long ago - Leo was starting to wonder if he had caused a rift somewhere.
