With the sound of an alarm ringing him out of his sleep, Kenny cracked his eyes open to his plain white ceiling, his head pounding with tension. He rubbed his temples for a moment desperate to release the pressure; he assumed it was from grinding his teeth in stress all night.
He nearly jumped out of his skin though as he heard someone shift on the floor next to his bed, Kenny looking over the edge to see Craig face down on the floor refusing to wake up. As he stared at his confusing friend's unmoving form, Kenny thought back to the previous night to their shared moment on the porch, and the endless blunts they smoked. Craig had never been there for him like that, and Kenny wondered if it ever would've happened if Stan and Kyle didn't force them outside.
Even though Kenny didn't have a problem with Craig being in his room, he wanted to avoid the vulnerability he revealed last night; so he quickly dressed himself, and decided to sneak downstairs to check on Stan and Kyle. Before he left his room, Kenny looked back to Craig's sleeping form, their closeness on the porch causing his cheeks to heat up and his eyes to go wide. We were nice to each other? The world must be ending.. Kenny thought to himself as he closed his door finally.
Always trying to be considerate for sleeping people, Kenny started down the steps, wincing whenever there was a creak or wheeze. As he was approaching the first floor to head into the kitchen, Kenny noticed that the light was already on; his questions were settled quickly though as he spotted Stan and Kyle at the breakfast bar. They had already made coffee (thankfully), and they were much too wrapped up in their conversation to notice that Kenny was now standing in front of him.
Instead of letting them know he was there and interrupting whatever was going on, Kenny headed to the coffee pot, desperate for any amount of caffeine. Kyle jumped in his spot on the stool, exchanging a look with Stan like he expected their friend to be angry with them for making out in his living room all night.
Even though Kenny knew that they were talking about the Irish Mob, he turned with a small smile, his mug clasped in his hand. He wasn't ready to speak any words yet, especially about the Irish Mob. Kenny wasn't sure he'd ever be ready to talk about the reality of what his life had become.
Stan, on the other hand, didn't care whether or not Kenny was in a talkative mood, jumping up from his seat at the counter to confront him. "Ken," He started as he walked pointedly to Kenny, his arms crossed over his chest in typical fashion. Since he had known about the situation for years now, Kenny suspected that the only reason his best friend was approaching him like this was because his boyfriend was scared, and Kenny couldn't blame him. "We need to talk about what to do."
It was true that the discussion needed to happen, especially before everyone else got there, but Kenny still wasn't happy about it. Taking a long sip of his coffee before he spoke, Kenny nodded along with the hot liquid swirling down his throat. "Yeah, alright. Will you get Craig from upstairs though?"
Stan only nodded once before bounding up the stairs, an empty look in his eyes that Kenny knew all too well. Before he could question Kyle about what they were talking about, Kyle was already looking at him, sipping his coffee loudly with a raised eyebrow. "So," He started, setting down his coffee as he folded his hands together like a questioning parent: "What's up with you and Craig?"
It hadn't been the question that Kenny was expecting, but he shrugged automatically. Kenny could talk with Kyle about anything of course, however Kenny himself hadn't thought any farther about Craig yet. He was uncomfortable by the question though, and Kyle could read him like a book.
"Dude, that seems like utter bullshit." Kyle started as his cheeks burned red. He did not like being lied to, in any situation, even if it wasn't serious. Life was too short for that garbage. "There's always an air of sexual tension with you guy, and then he slept in your room?" Kenny looked down at this half-drank coffee, scowling at Kyle's tone of voice. Kyle got up from his seat and walked over to his friend, whispering now: "I thought he was interested in Tweek, and you were supportive of that?"
