Kenny sat up in the snow like an electric shock ran through him.
Just a moment before, he thought his death was truly permanent. It was jarring - Kenny touched the ground below him while he glanced down at his healed chest, the evidence of yet another shooting removed from reality. He felt displaced as he finally worked up the nerve to absorb the scene around him.
It wasn't what he expected. Kenny was met with muted sirens, and murmurs of disembodied voices around him. The law enforcement scattered throughout the front yard talked to Stan, Randy and Kyle, writing everything they said into a notepad.
He searched for Leo. Starting to panic slightly, his eyes finally landed on him sitting in the back of an ambulance. Somehow, he knew that Kenny was alive again as he snapped his head up to connect their eyes; Leo pushed the paramedic slightly out of the way as he staggered to his feet, desperate to get to Kenny.
But he was there first, catching Leo before he could make it much further. Kenny hugged him against his chest tightly, not wanting to let go anymore. They could finally be together, peacefully.
"Leo," He pulled away gently as he noticed the approaching law enforcement. It wasn't quite over yet. "We did it.."
They couldn't continue their reunion as two Feds motioned for Kenny to follow them. Understandably, they had some questions for him. This was the part he hadn't planned for too - he had no goddamn idea what he could explain to them that would make sense. They didn't know he was immortal, how was he supposed to explain that he survived?
The two gruff looking men brought him off to the side of the porch. The one with a thick mustache cleared his throat, scanning the teenager from head to toe. "So, Kenny McCormick?"
He wanted to roll his eyes, but he sighed instead: "Yes, sir."
After taking down his information for a moment, the other officer closed the notepad. "Alright, Mr. McCormick, what do you know about the Stotch family, and Mayor McDaniels?"
Although the events happened in a short amount of time, Kenny was able to explain everything he could in the next twenty minutes. From finding David's body, to Leo's kidnapping and all the way to Tolkien getting shot earlier that day - he told them everything. Of course, Kenny had to fabricate some things, such as his deaths, and some of Leo's personal details.
Surprisingly, the Feds seemed to believe what he said. Whether it was how earnestly he explained things, or his lack of hesitation to answer questions - Kenny was released without much more information.
Since Leo wouldn't turn seventeen until September, Kenny worried about where they would place him. He would lose his fucking mind if they were separated again. Yet, they hadn't mentioned anything about social services getting involved.
Stan and Kyle caught up with him as the Feds began leaving without any indication as to why. Leo was getting checked over by the paramedic again, but he argued with them about going to the hospital; Kenny knew that his boyfriend just wanted to relax after the shitty day they had. He motioned for his best friends to follow him to the ambulance, where Butters was starting to lose his shit.
"No! I don't have insurance now! Don't you get it?!" His cheeks were running red as he yelled at the paramedic. "I'm on my own.."
"Cutie pie," Kenny interjected with his typical smirk, leaning against the open door of the ambulance. "I'm right here. We'll figure this out together!"
"But, Ken-"
"Seriously, lay down. Stan, Ky and I are comin' with you."
Leo grumbled something under his breath before a smile spilled onto his face, unable to fight that feeling Kenny gave him. "Fine." He moved back onto the gurney, giving the medic a guilty look. "I-I'm sorry, I've had a really bad day." Even in the darkness, Kenny could see them shrug it off. Being a medic in South Park, they probably had to deal with this sort of shit all the time.
