The morning was not going by as fast as Kenny hoped it would. Since he had something to look forward to after school, all of his classes just happened to actually be assigned work today, which made the day go by even slower. Much to his dismay too, Kenny didn't see Leo anymore - he wasn't sure whether Leo was avoiding him, or if he had gone home for the day. Whatever the reason though, Kenny tried to be understanding since he didn't know anything about his crush's life.

He couldn't get his mind off of the marks he had seen on Leo, they were consistent with what Kenny and his siblings had experienced in their childhood, and that possibility made Kenny's stomach churn. Kenny was still even kicking himself for grabbing Leo's wrist like that when he reacted to touch so poorly, and he knew better than to touch people without their permission. At this point, Kenny was a bit glad that he wasn't seeing Leo in the hallway again.

After he had met up with the rest of the boys, Kenny didn't hear a single complaint about him and Craig taking off before everyone else that morning. The only one who seemed to notice Kenny's mental distraction was Kyle, who wouldn't stop staring at him every chance he got. He avoided his best friend's stares though and instead noticed how attached at the hip Clyde and Tolkien seemed to be - which left Bebe alone with Wendy. Tolkien may have been going through a break up, but Kenny was surprised to see how fast he ditched Bebe, who he was supposed to be having sex with tonight.

His attempts at distracting his mind from drifting to Butters again didn't work though, as Kenny thought about how weird his life had gotten just in the last few months. In fact, Kenny couldn't help to circle his thoughts back to how the Irish Mob problem hadn't come about until Leo showed up in South Park. As much as he hated to think such a thing about the beautiful boy, Kenny wondered if he had any connection with the Mob; it would make sense as to why Leo hated him so much, because he had to. At the same time however, Kenny considered that he could just be creating reasons for Leo to hate him instead of dealing with the fact that Leo could just hate him, and that there was no hidden agenda. Either possibility made Kenny feel absolutely delusional.

"Ken!" A familiar voice jostled Kenny from his deep thoughts where he stood in the courtyard, as he blinked at Kyle who had managed to stand in front of him without him noticing. Kyle had been watching his friend for the first half of the day and had enough of keeping his mouth shut, it was obvious to him that Kenny was hiding something, again. Even though Kyle had said something to him, Kenny lifted a cigarette to his mouth in silence as his friend leaned against the brick wall knowing that he would have to carry the conversation. "Where'd you and Craig go this morning?"

Even when Kyle was trying to be casual, Kenny could pick up on the subtle impatience in his friend's voice. He knew better than to dodge Kyle forever though, since that never worked, shrugging as he took a drag: "To school."

"Mm." Kyle hummed sarcastically, crossing his arms over his chest with an eye roll. "No shit. Why'd you leave without us?"

He had less patience than usual, Kenny noted and he wondered if there was something else going on with Kyle. Recently, the answer to that question was yes, Kyle was dealing with more than he ever led on - but that could be expected from someone who's dad was murdered. Kenny conceded to his friend because of this, answering as honestly as possible: "I had some thinking to do, and Craig tagged along uninvited."

Kenny may have left out some details, including the existence of Leo in his life, since he wanted to keep it to himself as much as possible. Craig knew now and that was purely by accident. Besides, in Kenny's justification for not telling Kyle about liking someone, he thought that it was one more thing Kyle didn't need on his plate.

Unfortunately, he seemed to be right too as Kyle shifted from his questioning, to holding back tears. "Kenny," He started quietly as he tried to hold back sobs with the sleeve of his sweatshirt. "I-I know my dad and I weren't that close, but I.. I miss him so much."
