Izzie walked into the kitchen with a cough. "Mom, what the hell?"

"Sorry honey, I was trying to make a casserole for the Harrington's Christmas party. I guess I shouldn't have tried a new recipe for it," she sighed. "I'll just have to give them the pie form the grocery store."

"What? No!" Izzie fussed. "That's my favorite."

"Well, Izz, I'll stop by the store after Christmas and get you another one. Maybe it'll even be on sale," her mother said.

"I can't believe you're giving Steve my pie," Izzie rolled her eyes, turning to go upstairs.

"Hey, hurry up and finish getting ready, we're going to leave soon!" Mrs. Williams called after her.

The Harringtons were famous for their annual Christmas party. Up until Christmas of 1982. That would be the last Christmas party they ever threw. Mr. Harrington was too embarrassed after all of his friends saw his son passed out on the roof.

They arrived at the house, and in the driveway Izzie's parents gave her a lecture. "Now, when we go inside, you will be respectful to Mr. Harrington."

"I know," Izzie replied shortly. She hated Mr. Harrington. He was an awful man and an even worse father. He was never there for Steve, he didn't deserve her respect.

"That includes dirty looks and passive aggressive remarks," her father added.

"Whatever, I'll be nice," Izzie sassed.

"Alright, everyone smile, be pleasant," Izzie's mom instructed as she exited the car. The way she walked to the door with her pie was a picture perfect image of suburban Christmas.

Mrs. Harrington opened the door with an eerily wide smile. "Claire! Welcome!" They babbled on for awhile about her mom's pie before Mrs. Harrington looked at Izzie. "Isabelle, you look wonderful," she grinned, hugging her.

"Thanks," Izzie replied with a tight lipped smile. "Um, Im gonna go find Steve," she said.

"Oh, he's upstairs pouting, but go ahead. Im sure seeing you would cheer him up," she replied.

Izzie walked up the stairs, pulling the too-tight sweater away from her neck. When she reached Steve's room, she could hear music from the other side of the door. "Hey Harrington! Open up!"

Steve's head popped up from his pillow. "Izz?"

"Who else?" she replied, pounding her fist against the door. "Come on!"

He opened the door. "Patience is a virtue, you know."

"Yeah, Yeah," she rolled her eyes. "Do you have it?"

"I do," he nodded, kneeling down and pulling the bottle of whiskey out from under his bed.

Izzie smiled. "Finally, you're awful Christmas party is gonna be interesting."

"Or at least tolerable," he laughed.

The two were about halfway through some whiskey when they decided with would be really fun to go up on the roof and smoke.

"You know, it would be really easy for someone to go out in the back yard and see us," Izzie remarked.

"They can kiss my ass," Steve slurred.

Izzie laughed really hard, but if she was sober it wouldn't have been funny.

"You know, Izz I think I would make a good Santa. I should grow a beard."

Izzie laughed and shook her head. "Absolutely not. You would like like a homeless man."

"No," Steve argued. "I would look holly jolly."

Izzie took a long sip from the whiskey bottle. "You're not holly jolly."

Steve gasped in offense. "Why not?!"

"You're just Steve," she explained.

"What does that mean," he questioned.

She laid back onto the roof. "You're just Steve, you're not magical. So you can't be like Santa."

"You can't prove that I'm not magical," he argued.

"Do you have elves?" she asked.

"Do you count?" he asked.

"I'm 5'6," she sassed.

"Are you sure because you look like an elf to me right now," he laughed.

"And you look like I could push you off this roof right now," she sassed.

He laid down next to her, and they continued to talk until at one point they fell asleep on the roof. They seemed to have forgotten that there was a Christmas party happening under them.

"Isabelle Williams!" her mother's voice boomed.

"Steve Harrington!" Mr. Harrington yelled.

Izzie jolted up. "Oh shit." She turned to Steve, shaking him. "Steve wake up!"

"Izz, I'm trying to sleep," he grumbled.

She hit him in the head. "Get up!"

He sat up. "Oh shit."

Steve wouldn't spend Christmas with Izzie again until 1984. However, they would proceed to spend every Christmas after that loving each other. One way or another, close or far, they would love each other.
