No one's POV

It was December 31, and James was running in the rain with a champagne bottle in hand, why you may ask? Because he was an idiot.

A few hours before...

"Alright we're all ready, coffee, candy, food, games, pillows and sleeping bags." James said excitedly, it was December 31, and James was hosting a New Year's party at a ball/big room he rented out.

The people who were invited were Sirius, Remus, Severus, and most surprisingly, Lily. James saw how Severus cared for Lily and now that he knew that Severus was not interested in females anymore made him sure that Lily would not interfere, especially with how he threatened her and how Lily still cares for Severus.

(Btw James sent a secret anonymous note to Lily as 'the person who blackmailed Lily'  saying that she was in the clear now and could talk to Severus cause he was gay.)

"Alright everything set, and it's 3:00, they should be here any minute." James was sure everything was ready, he even had 5 champagne glasses ready at the table for when it was 12;00.

Then, the door rang.

James opened the door to see Severus standing there.

"Um, hi.." Severus said shyly, noticing that James was staring at him. James snapped from his trance upon seeing Severus uncomfortable.

"Come on Severus, over here." James gestured inside and Severus followed.

"So this is where we're going to sleep?" Severus asked as he walked side by side with James.

"Yep you're gonna have your own sleeping bag," James replied, but then he stopped walking and pulled Severus to him so their faces were a a few inches away from each other, "or we could sleep together if you like."

Severus's face heated up but as he was about to say something the door bell rang.

"Oh that must be the others." James swiftly got out of his position with Severus and went to the door opening it to reveal his two alive best friends and Lily.

"Oh hey guys, Severus is already here so come in."

"Severus?" Lily timidly asked? She seemed like she was gonna reunite with a brother she hadn't seen in years.

"Oh... hi Lily," Severus said, he seemed disappointed, not in Lily, but in himself, "how are you?"

"I'm good, what about you?"

It was 5:08 and everyone was having fun, Sirius was forcing Remus to play just dance with him, (let's ignore the fact they didn't have that back then,)  Lily and Severus were comfortable talking with eachother again and James was pretty sure that Lily apologized and gave some excuse or something.

And James was doing karaoke.

"Hey Sev! Come and sing some karaoke!" James shouted to Severus.

"Never thought I'd live to see the day you guys would be friends, much less James Potter call you Sev." Lily snickered. "You sure you guys aren't dating?" Lily said jokingly, but then she saw how Severus's face heated up.

"Omg no way?!??" Lily whispered, she was grinning and smiling at Severus, though lucky for them both James didn't see that and more luckily Severus's face or else he would've committed a murder since he didn't know why, most probably he would've assumed something.

"No, I do like him-" Severus said but was given a look that said 'like?' "I do love him but I don't know if he loves me back."

"Well then try to bond with him more!" Lily pushed Severus over to James where he was singing karaoke, James turned around to see Severus right behind him, just then Lily shoved Severus making him slip and fall.... Into James's arms.
