Christmas Eve, 7 years ago.

Jisung pushed through the crowd in the store, eager to get to the front as fast as possible, while he continued to curse himself silently.

It was Christmas Eve and Jisung couldn't believe he had forgotten to buy a gift for his friend.

Kim Seungmin. Not Jisung's closest friend, but close nevertheless. And when he was laying on his couch earlier that evening, it was by pure luck that he had remembered about buying Seungmin a gift, or else, even though the latter wasn't the type to mind or take these things to heart, Jisung was very much the type to fret about these stuff and overthink and feel guilty as hell.

So now here he was, in a shitty, overcrowded gift shop that was about to close in the next ten minutes, buying a shitty, cheesy, Friends Forever coffee mug for a dude he didn't know the favourite colour of.

Dimly he wondered exactly how many people had been buying last minute gifts for friends and family in the biting cold and snow, as he watched the busy, mildly panicked crowd inside and outside the shop. With a twinge of relief, the boy realised he wasn't the only one forgetting people in his gift list.

"Hey! Kid! Move along! You don't have all day here to stare at the wall!" A loud, rough voice came from behind Jisung and the latter turned around to see a middle aged woman with a permanently scary frown etched on her face as she hoisted a heavy looking tote bag on her shoulder.

Hastily Jisung walked forward in the line, clutching the black mug in his hands tightly. Thank God I'm not a relation of hers, the boy thought, shaking his head slightly. I'd run away and never come home.

"6000 won" The hastled looking cashier announced, gift wrapping the mug in red wrapping paper before sticking a bow on it and sliding it over the counter top towards Jisung.

"Thank you" the boy muttered, picking up the mug and pushing through the crowd. As the double doors jingled open, Jisung shivered, the cold wind whipping against his exposed face a stark contrast to the warm air inside the shop. He made his way along the cobbled pathways, eager to get back to the confort of his home as fast as possible.

The Christmas decorations along the road felt homely, and even though the various couples kissing under mistletoe hung over the shops made Jisung feel slightly bittersweet, he still liked to see other people happy.

"Oh I'm so sorry!" A voice exclaimed just as Jisung felt a body push into him. The boy looked up to see another guy with cat like features looking down at him with concern. "I wasn't looking where I was going. You're not hurt are you?" He asked breathlessly.

It took a minute for Jisung to realise the man was talking to him. "Oh no!" He exclaimed quickly. "I'm fine don't worry"

The man nodded. "That's good"

That seemed to be the end of their encounter as both made to move in opposite directions.

"Woah where are you two going?" Another voice asked. Jisung and Minho looked up simultaneously, each thinking the other had called them back.

Instead, they both met an elderly man, with twinkling eyes and a bright, cheeky smile. As they watched, the man pulled both of them together, pushing them up against in each other.

"Wha-"

"Now kiss"

"WHAT"

With a slight shake of his head, the man pointed upwards. Jisung looked up, eyes widening gradually as he watched what had been hung on top of the pair.

A wreath of green leaves, piled with snow and decorated with glossy red berries and tiny golden stars.

Mistletoe.
