Excerpt:

A sudden pounding on my passenger window has me jerking as my hand grips my gun. I glare at the blinding light before I'm met with an all too familiar laugh. "Wakey, wakey! Honey, it's time to rise and shine!" The door handle jimmies and I grunt as I rub my face with an exhausted yawn.

"You're a dick," I croak as I unlock my truck. "Turn the light off before I turn your lights off," I threaten and lean back in my seat as the door is pulled open. A click sounds as he chuckles, his cajun drawl thick as he speaks in his lazy cadence.

"Yeah, but you love me babe," My brow flickers as I stare at him confused. What didn't he tell me? He only breaks out that nickname when he's putting on a show.

"Debatable," I release a yawn as he shifts to the side with a sheepish grin.

"Skylar, I want you to meet Ryder and his younger brother, Ben." I stare at Logan for a long, silent moment before I turn to meet two sets of new eyes. Great. Dark brown, nearly black eyes watch me, taking in my form. Yeah, I'm in my pj's suck it. My shorts and crop top covered by an open baseball jersey and my slippers, really drive home my sex appeal. Or maybe it's just the sleep crusted eyes that does it. I want to snort at that amused by my inner thought. Ryder's well built form is still encased in his combat uniform, similar to Logan's.

I now understand why he's always talking about him. Ben, a shorter version of his older brother, with a young rounded face and intelligent green eyes. "Nice to meet you both." Ben offers a small wave and flushes as he looks towards his brother.

"Thanks for letting us stay with you guys." Wait what? I smile as I look at Logan.

"Friends of his are friends of mine." I'm going to kill him when we get home. Logan laughs and sets his bag in the bed.

"She ain't a morning person, you'll have to excuse the bark." I look at him with a narrowed gaze.

"You're lucky I even came to pick your sorry a-" My eyes flicker to Ben's and I feel my lips tighten. "Butt, up." I watch as Ryder's lip twitches upwards amused.

"He's a teen boy, he's heard cussing," he assures and I shake my head as Logan laughs.

"Don't give her the green light, she's got a mouth like a trucker." I give him a sass filled look.

"As if yours is any cleaner, I know where yours has been." He grins and releases a gut busting laugh even though his ears tinge. Ohh. So this is how it's gonna be.

"It's not my fault you don't-" I look at him simply.

"Finish that statement and you'll be walking home, darling." He shakes his head as his shoulders settle slightly. Ben's features flushed as his eyes widened slightly, understanding where he was going. Ryder chuckled as he easily placed both his and Ben's bags in the bed of my truck, securing them. I'm starting to like him more than Logan right now.

"Here Jinx, I brought a peace offering," Logan states as he hands me my large energy drink. Super sized, just how I like it. I chuckle and blow an air kiss.

"And your skin is saved." Logan pulls the seat forward to let Ben and Ryder climb into the backseat. I crack into my drug of choice, an original NOS, as large as they come. Crack of a mechanic and heaven on my taste-buds. I hum and savor my much needed drink.

"Jinx?" Ben asks, his high-pitched voice and pimple covered face that of an adolescent. I wonder how old he is? Granted I have my questions about this new development, but Logan felt kind and left me in the dark. I kick my slippers from my feet as I start my truck, the familiar, well tuned growl has my belly clenching. Oh the gear head in me is one happy little pixie.

"That's what everyone calls me, I prefer it to Skylar," I glance in the mirror with a steady stare. Let's end that right there.

"She hates her name," Logan explains simply as he fixes his seat and shuts his door.

"Logan, honey, don't slam my door." He chuckles and pats my leg before he plants a kiss on my cheek.

"Admit it, you love me." I give him a cheeky smile as I turn the radio up.

"Sorry, couldn't hear ya." Ben snickers behind me as Ryder watches amused, his eyes taking everything in. Has Logan really not told him? Violin by YelaWolf, featuring Lee Brice comes on and I can't resist it as I turn it up, singing along. Logan shakes his head as he monkeys around the glove box.
