Synopsis:

Legends of the council leave deep secrets for Ekon to unlock- what will the legend mean for him?

Fate is an unruly and fickle mistress; only time will tell if she's a blessing or a curse for the pair.

Excerpt:

"Ekon, how have you been? Miss me yet?" Magnar jokes as I answer the phone and I snort.

"I don't know, it's been awfully quiet the past few weeks. I've been able to think." More than I care to admit to. It's been an adjustment since my partner of two decades has left council, it's been more of an adjustment training Damien- the newest recruit.

"Oh piss off- you know you miss our banter." He chuckles and I can't help it as a chuckle soon follows his own.

"I know you didn't call to remind me of our banter; what's up Mr. Alpha." He growls at my teasing before his voice mellows, back to his original purpose.

"You've heard of Wyatt Hudson-"

"Alpha of the Shadow Crest pack? Yeah, what's up?" This should be interesting.

"Yeah, he's the one. Do you have an open case on him? Something's up, my wolf is agitated by him." He offers and I smirk.

"Magnar, you know I shouldn't feed you personal files on people anymore." He growls at that.

"Piss up a rope- you and I both know you were the rogue one of us. Cough up what you have, something's up with this man. I don't want to send my pack members into another situation that'll put them in danger." He releases a low growl, I can hear him pacing the length of his office.

"What do you want to know?" I stare at my computer screen, the man in question stares back, his image pristine, schooled, down to the cold glint in his black eyes.

"The man- there's something off about him. I don't trust sending my pack over to his- not after everything they've been through. It's too soon." He grunts.

"What sort of communications have you had with him?" Magnar sighs as the sound of his keyboard taps to life.

"I'll send you what I've got from him. He's requesting monetary value of the families for retribution for rehoming." Fits what I know of the man.

"So he wants you to pay for their housing? Or the transfer into his pack?" I stare at the email that pops up, reading over the copied letters.

"If he had it his way- both. The man wants money for two families to be rehomed there, we've already accepted three and started the process for housing in each case. What he's demanding makes no sense." He growls annoyed as I hum.

"You're talking about a greedy man- he wants what he can't have. I'm sure he was hoping to step in once Roberto croaked. I've found he's quite the misogynist."

"Has there been substantial pack growth?" He asks, his tone hardening as he slips back to his enforcer ways. Still surprised he made the big move. I can't say I'm completely shocked he stepped away once he found his mate- he's always wanted a family. Now he's got the chance.

"The Silver Moon Pack has reportedly settled on an agreement with him- their Alpha stepped down. At least that's the report that was given."

"And tell me that's not a stark line of bull."

"Considering what we've heard- that's what the council has settled with. Your pack set more of a draw of attention than his. I think it might've given Alpha Hudson a chance to over take the smaller pack. This is just the start."

"Magnar-" Adira's voice filters over the line before it's muffled.

"Yeah Baby?" Oh the man is smitten. I chuckle softly to myself as I wait.

"I'm going into town to check on the progress of construction- do you need anything?"

"No, I'm talking with Ekon right now. I'll meet you for lunch later, ok?"

"That sounds good, Ronny wanted to talk with us about something." Magnar sighs.

"Alright, I'll be along in a bit. Love you baby."

"Love you too." Gag. I can hear them kiss before there's a sound smack followed by a giggle. Those two are sickly.

"You two are disgusting, you're going to make me puke." I mutter with a sigh, my chest pangs at the want that strikes my heart again.

"You're jealous you don't have a mate to mount." He argues with a sigh, I imagine he's rubbing his temples in agitation. "Something is brewing, my wolf is on edge any time he requests a meeting." He shifts the conversation back to the original reason for his call.

"Hudson is a loose cannon from the reports I've seen. Let me pull up the reports we've gotten on the pack." I offer him as I access the database and pull up the Shadow Crest pack.

"I don't remember many visits within the pack. Isn't that strange?" For you? Very.

"From the looks of things, they requested limited visits- it appears that they have a council member within their pack." I frown reading the reports. Who in the council lives there?

"Who could that be? Majority of the members gave up their pack allegiance, none remain after two years ago." He mutters to himself, a bad habit of his.

"If you'd stop yabbering I'd get the answer quicker." Pulling up the council database I cross reference the claim. "Strange." How was this missed?

"Strange?"

"Have you ever heard the name Reginald-"

"Titan? Of course- who hasn't?" The man was a legend within the council, his legacy one that has preceded his time and will remain in the history books for ages. "Why?"
