Excerpt:

"Do y'all want to fish?" Grainger asks as Caroline and I set our bags down. I grin and give a shrug, I'll never turn down fishing.

"I guess, we can fish for a little." I chuckle shaking my head, Caroline isn't a huge fan of fishing, but she knows how I feel about it. Knox hands me a pole, while Jamie passes one to Caroline. Grinning I automatically reach for bait. "Sav, can you bait my hook. I don't like touching the worms." She shivers, making me roll my eyes at her as she let's the hook swing towards me. Grainger was close enough to thankfully stop the line before it had a chance to attach itself to me.

"Easy there killer. You could take an eye out with that thing." His chuckle has everyone laughing as she pouts.

"I wasn't gonna let it hit her." My phone rings, making me shake my head at her. Looking at the number I pause not recognizing it. Answering it, I bring it up to my ear, starting to walk away from the laughing group.

"Hello?" The person on the other end clears their throat.

"Is this Savannah Dudley?"

"Yes, can I ask who this is?"

"I'm Corporal Wyatt Gains, I'm with the Walkins county police department. What's your relationship with Tyler Dudley?" Hearing my father's name, my head hangs. What on earth has he gotten into now? If I had any guess the man probably got himself arrested for something stupid. Walking away from Caroline and them I try to find a quiet place to continue this embarrassing conversation.

"He's my father, what did he get arrested for now?" I don't even know if Dad has any more money in his 'bail' account. Of course the account didn't start out that way, not it was my college fund. Rolling my eyes, I hear the man clear his throat again, sounding uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but he's been in an accident." He trails off, not continuing as if he wants me to understand the gravity of the situation. Freezing, I sit down heavily on the wooden fence, stunned.
