Varian's POV:
Shit. What do I do? The ceiling is starting to collapse, I need to get out of here. Gunther grabbed a knife from his pocket and held my face in his hand.
Gunther: You're not escaping me this time!
The knife was heading straight for my face. All I could do was watch as it came closer and closer to my face. I have to act, NOW! I brought my foot up to my face and kicked him in the dick. He let go of my face and fell to the floor.
Gunther: AH! Fucking töte dich!
(I just want to clarify, I'm using google translate for the germen so if it's wrong, you know why.) I tried to run but he used his foot to trip me over. I face planted into the floor, HARD, feeling a small trickle of blood come from my head.
Gunther: I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!
Gunther crawled on top of me and started punching me repeatedly. "How are you so strong? You're a twig!" I tried to push him off, but he kept a strong grip on me. I started to lose conciseness as the room filled with more and more smoke.
Gunther: You should've just stayed in Corona, where you belong!
Suddenly, I got a crazy idea. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and kept a firm grip on him. "If I'm going down, then I'm TAKING YOU DOWN WITH ME!" I kicked a wooden beam that was behind him, causing the ceiling to come crashing down. The fire roared, consuming everything around us. Gunther quickly let go of me and tried to get up, but I pulled him back down.
Gunther: Let go of me! LET GO OF ME!
Gunther rolled us over, out the way of the falling ceiling. He managed to get loose from me and stood up immediately, running for the exit. I grabbed his foot, causing him to trip and fall over. I stood up and walked on his back, not letting him get back up. "I know this is the end for me, but I'm not the only one dying today. Bitch!"
Gunther: Yes. You. ARE!
Gunther grabbed my ankle and dug his nails into my skin, making me lose my balance. He stood up, grabbing me by my collar.
Gunther: You're gonna BURN for EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE!
He kicked me across the floor. I looked up when I heard cracking noises. The ceiling directly above him was about to fall. I smirked as I said, "Only AFTER you do." He looked confused. I watched as the wooden boards that were once the ceiling came crashing down on him. There were screams, screams so loud I almost went deaf. Once a bit of the smoke cleared, I could see him properly. His legs were underneath burning planks of wood. His clothes started to catch fire, his arms were scorched, he screamed out in pain every time he tried to crawl his way out.
Gunther: YOU'RE NOT JUST GOING TO LEAVE ME HERE, ARE YOU?
"That's exactly, what I'm gonna do." All it took was one final plank of wood to come crashing down to finish him off. As it was falling, he said something that stuck with me.
Gunther: This isn't the end Varian. I WILL be back, YOU HEAR ME! I WLL RETURN AND I'LL DESTROY EVEERYTHING YOU LOVE!
The plank fell directly on his head after he said that, either killing him or knocking him unconscious. I sat up and leaned on a wall as the fire got closer and closer to me, making it harder to breathe every second. "This is it I guess... after everything, I still never got to tell Hugo I loved him. I was hoping to see Corona one last time, but I guess that won't be happening. Goodbye Dad, goodbye Rapunzel, goodbye Cass, goodbye Eugene, goodbye Lance, goodbye Kira and Catalina, goodbye Ruddiger, goodbye Yong, goodbye Nuru... goodbye, Hugo... I love you." I closed my eyes as I excepted death, letting the flames consume me. As I was slipping out of consciousness, I heard a voice call out my name. I faintly opened my eyes to see who it was. I was barely able to get a word out. "H-Hu-g-go?" I fell unconscious.
*1 HOUR LATER*
I woke up in something comfy, but I had no idea what it was. Once my eyes adjusted to my surroundings, I saw that I was in Hugo's arms.
Hugo: VARIAN! YOU'RE AWAKE!
"Yeah, I'm awake. How long was I out for?"
Gretchen: About an hour.
"Gretchen? You're still here? I thought you would've left by now?"
Gretchen: Yeah, well, someone had to keep Hugo calm while he waited for you to wake up.
I smiled. I tried to stand up but fell almost immediately.
Hugo: Careful there Hairstripe.
I rolled my eyes at him. "I thought we were done with the nicknames?"
Hugo: You know you like it.
"Whatever you say. Blondie."
Hugo: Wow, so creative.
"Shut up." I laughed. Hugo helped me stand up. He put his hand firmly on my waist to stop me from falling. "Gretchen. I'm sorry about your brother." She turned to me and smiled.
Gretchen: I know he was my brother and all but, he had it coming to him. He was a real piece of shit.
Hugo: You got that right.
The fire had almost stopped completely, but the building had nothing left. The entire thing caved in on itself.
Gretchen: Well, I should be heading home now. It was nice meeting you Varian.
"You too, Gretchen. Thanks for your help."
Gretchen: Anytime.
And just like that, she was gone.
Hugo: Varian.
"Yes Hugo?" He let go of my waist and held my hands in his while he looked into my eyes.
Hugo: I heard what you said earlier, about you loving me.
"Oh, shit. Hahaha,I was just k-kidding." My face was completely red with embarrassment.
Hugo: Really? That's a shame. I was going to say I love you too but now it seems pointless.
"Wait, you love me?"
Hugo: Yes, of course I do Varian. I love you more than anything. I'm sorry for not saying it sooner, I was just worried you didn't feel the same way about me.
"Do you mean it? Do you really mean it?"
Hugo: I've never been more honest in my life.
I looked into his eyes, tears rolling down my cheeks.
Hugo: Varian, I-
I shut him up by kissing him, in a lovingly kind of way. He kissed me back, cupping my face gently. I pulled away for a moment. "This has been one crazy adventure. I never thought I'd get a boyfriend out of it."
Hugo: I guess, that's the power of blackmail, huh Varian.
"Hehe yeah, I guess it is."
It's over. It's actually over. I'm releasing this on the 13th of February which means I'm releasing it on the same day I released the very first chapter 2 years go now. Thank you all so much for the support, I've certainly had fun writing this. Since tomorrow is Valentines Day, I'll be releasing an epilogue with some *cough* sex *cough* thrown in.
