MATT's POV
As I rounded the corner with a spring in my step I noticed Phi's office door was wide open. I tapped on the door a few times before stepping in, smiling when Phi looked up at me through her glasses."Hey Matt." She smiled softly.
"How are you?" I asked, closing the door behind me.
"I'm alright." She said, gesturing to the seat across from her.
I took the seat, feeling slightly hurt that our interaction two nights ago was just thrown out the window.
I watched as she took out her phone, sliding it across her desk to me. I grabbed it and noticed she had a new contact pulled up for me to fill out. I smiled and added my number into her phone before sliding it back to her.
A few moments later my phone buzzed in my pocket.
xxx-xxx-xxxx
I would come hug you but I don't want to be unprofessional at work :(Matty🦔
It's ok :)"So I talked with my mom's doctor and I have a ton of tests done to see where the problem stems from." She sighed.
"Really?" I asked, sitting up a little more.
"Yeah." She sighed. "I'm filling out all the paperwork now."
"What uh- what are you getting done?" I asked, not wanting to overstep but still curious to know.
"They have to do a CT scan, an MRI, a few blood tests and one of those electrode tests." She said, thumbing through some papers.
"That sounds scary." I said, leaning forward on her desk. Phi looked up to me, leaning over her desk as well. She pushed her hands forwards until they met mine. I let my thumb brush over her hand, doing my best to comfort her without over stepping. "I'm sure you'll be fine."
"I know I will." She smiled, doing her best to put on a brave face. "But it will be nice since we don't have games these next few days while I go."
"That is nice." I smiled, my thoughts spiraling to think about what it could be other than epilepsy. "Are you just going to one of the hospitals around here?"
"No I have to fly down to the Cleveland Clinic tonight." She sighed, putting her pen down to look up at me. "But my parents are going with me so I think that will help."
"That will definitely make it easier for you." I answered her. "When do you get back?"
"Friday." Phi answered, leaning back to sort through papers. My heart fluttered as she looked at me through her glasses, still gorgeous.
"Oh shit." I chuckled. "That's a long time."
"Have fun working with the interns." She smirked, her eyes flashing dark for a moment.
"Jesus Christ you're really leaving us in the dumps." I joke, standing up.
"Well I'm sure you'll have more fun than me." She sighed.
"Text me ok? I'm assuming you're not coming to the game." I spoke.
"Yeah I'm leaving in an hour so I won't see you." She said quietly.
"Ok then. When will I see you?" I asked her, leaning over her desk.
"I'll meet you on the tarmac when we leave for Detroit." She answered me, her eyes softening.
"Alright." I paused. "Good luck."
"Thanks Matt." Phi smiled. I sent her one in return then walked out the door.

"Matt what is up with you." Brock asked, walking up to me and taking the stick tape out of my hands.
"Oh nothing. I'm using that." I said, snapping out of my thoughts. Phi texted me this morning, her MRI is today and she's very nervous, she gets home tomorrow so this is the last test before they analyze the results.
"You've been 'using it' for five minutes staring off into space." Connor chuckled.
"Oh." I said, putting down the stick that I was holding.
"Dude what's wrong?" Kirill said, sitting down next to me.
"Just lost in thought I guess." I shrugged, trying to get them to drop the subject.
"Is this about that girl?" Brandon asked me, loud enough for the whole room to hear. I rolled my eyes in response, looking at the reactions of the others. I watched as Brock and Connor shared a knowing glance. What do those two know?
"Bolds has a girl?" Ryan asked, looking at me.
"No I don't." I said, trying to think of anyone other than Phi; like Brock in a speedo.
"Then what were you just asking me about the other day?" Brandon asked me.
"I just had a question is all." I half smiled looking over to Brock again. However Brock was looking at Connor, sharing smiling glances.
"Interesting." Brandon shrugged. "Who's cooking tonight?"
"We are." Ryan smiled, talking about family dinner. "Does anyone know if Phi is coming?"
"I haven't seen her at all this week." Jared answered.
"She had to take the week off." I answered, respecting Phi's privacy.
"Sounds like someone knows what she's up to." Connor smiled, wiggling his eyebrows.
"I don't, just caught her on the way out on Sunday." I answered.
"Do you know when she'll be back?" Brock asked me, also smirking.
"Saturday night." I answered simply.
"Bolds is pissed with the questions." Kirill chuckled.
I just shrugged in response, hoping they would leave me be. Someone knows something, maybe, I don't know.
"No I think he knows something we don't." Ryan smirked.
"He for sure does." Brock smirked. "But we're not getting it out of him, at least not right now."
"After the game tomorrow?" Brandon smirked, tapping my shoulder.
"Nah my moneys on tonight after we get a few drinks in him." Ryan joked.
"No shot he's cracking." Brock smiled.
"Alright five down to bet between me, Dewey and Brock." Ryan smiled.
"Yeah sign me up." Kirill smirked, pulling out his wallet.
"Jesus Christ." I groaned, rubbing my face down. "This is shaping up to be a long night."
"Hell yeah it is." Brandon smiled. "Now pay up!"
