Cigarettes

It's the morning and I walk into the house and it reeks.

I gag as the smell of cigarettes fills my nose and I look around and darry isn't home he already left

"Why the fuck does it smell like smoke in here"
I say as I walk around

"Hello?" I yell and I go back outside and wake up Steve

"Steve"
"God damn it soda what"
"It smells like cigarettes in the house it's real bad"
"What do you want me to do"
"Help me open windows while I find who the fuck is smoking in the house"
"God damn it fine"

He got up and popped his back fuck he's hot.

Back to the smell.

"What the fuck that's bad!" He says as he's coughing
"I know!"
"Is pony here?"
"I don't know!"
"Damn it soda!"
"Just open the damn windows!"

"PONY!" I yell as I'm walking to me and pony's room
The smell is worse as you walk near my room
"FOUND IT STEVE"
"THANK GOD!"
I fling the door the rest of the way open and pony is in a chair smoking
Ashes and butts are all over the table
"Are you fucking kidding pony?"
"Uh"
"NO SMOKING IN THE DAMN HOUSE!"
"I knew that"
"you shouldn't even be smoking pony."
"Yeahh"
"Get out please"
"Can I ta-"
"No"
"Awe"

I open the window in our room and clean the table and Steve is opening the last window

"I think that kid has a problem that's a shit ton of smoke!"
"No really?"

Pony is standing outside
Me and Steve walk out of there
"You gonna tell darry?"
"Probably not but he might find out the house reeks of smoke!"
"Why did you sleep out here? And why is Steve here this early?"
"Why are you smoking up a damn storm this early!"
"I- good point"
"Where did you even get all of those"
"The store"
"Well duh what ab the money?"
"Found it on the ground"
"And you bought cigarettes?" Steve buts in
"Yeah"
I roll my eyes
"Hopefully it airs out before darry gets back."
"So what we gonna do?" Steve is bored and you can tell.
"Not go in there!"
"I'll go in there" pony says
We both look at pony
"You smell like cigarettes"
Steve says as he plugs his nose
"Let's take you to Steve so you can take a dam shower"
I grab pony hand and we walk to Steve's
Pony gets in the shower and I check his close for any more cigarettes.
I find one pack left.
"Ima take ur car and search the room you stay here with him I'll bring some clothes for him as well"
"Got it"

I hop in Steve's car and drive to the house and I find pony some clothes
And 3 new packs and 2 empty.
The house is still bad..

I drive back and throw pony's clothes in the bathroom and place the packs on the table.

"He bought six?" Steve says looking at the packs
"I guess, how many is in the one that was in his pocket?"
"Half full"
"He had two and a half? Holy shit"
"Fuck man that's a lot in one morning!"
"That's not heathy that's for sure!"

I walk to Steve's phone and call Johnny
"Hey it's soda"
"Uh it's Johnny what's going on?"
"Pony smo-"
"Can't talk I'll be at the house
"Don-
Hung up
Pony is done and is sitting on the couch
"Let's go johnnys gonna be at the house"

We walk to the house and Johnny arrives after and sees we are all out side
"Uh what happened?"
"Pony decided to smoke two and a half packs in the house"
"What?"
"Yeah"
"This morning?"
"Yeah"
"PONY?"
"Yeah"
"What where you thinking?" He says as he turns to pony
"I was thinking I wanted to smoke and it was cold"
"2 packs? That kills people!"
"Yeahh"
"You gotta calm down!"
"Why?"
"Because that isn't good!"
"Fine I'll take it down a bit."
"Thank you!"

"What y'all gonna do till the house airs out?" Johnny asked us
"Not sure" Steve says
"Let's go to the lot" I suggest

We walk to the lot and I lay at the tree where our initials are carved in

Johnny is standing looking at the tree
"Did y'all carve that?"
"Yeah" Steve says looking at me
"Nice"

We do some stuff and go back to the house it's not aired out but me and Steve go in there and get food and I look for a fan of any kind

We walk back out and pony asked "can I have a cigarette?"
"No" we all say at the same time
"Bummer"
"Ur cut off for a bit "
"WHAT!"
"Yuh huh"
"This is stupid"
"Yk what's stupid? TWO AND A HALF PACKS IN ONE MORNING!" Johnny says raising his voice

"Come to the back of the house rq soda"
Steve says with a slight grin

I follow him and he kisses me
"What"
"I just havnt given you one in a bit " he places his hand on my shoulder and we kiss again

"I missed it" I say my face red

We laugh and head back out there.

Darrys car pulls up

"Oh shit" pony says

My jaw dropped
"LANGUAGE?"
"Yeah yeah"

"What's going on?" Darry says
"Pony smoked two and a half packs of cigarettes when you left and soda was asleep. Johnny blurted
"YOU- WHAT WHY JOHNNY!" Pony said in a panic
"Pony. What the fuck?" Darry says holding the bridge of his nose
"Yeah your cut off for a while, I'm searching ur room and ur grounded."
"What? "
"What did I tell you about smoking? You shouldn't! Like at all?"
"Yeahh"
"I let it slide but ur done for a while pony"
He looked at me "where are the packs?"
"There's some right here" I grab the 3 fulls and the half from my flannel pocket and hand it over.
"These his?"
"Yeah"
"You check the room?"
"Nah that was on the table"
"Is there more?"
"I don't know man"

He grabs one from the pack and lights it and smokes it himself
"What?" He says as I'm looking at him
"Uh ur smoking when u just got mad at pony-"
"Well pony is 14 I'm 20."
"Good point"

Steve grabs my hand and says "I'm heading out you maybe wanna go out tomorrow or something?"
"I'd love to"
I lean in and he grabs me and kisses me
"One more for the road"
He grabs the collar of my flannel and leans me over for a romantic kiss it's the best I love when he does that
I turn red as I see Darry in the door way
"Rap it up you two lovebirds"
I laugh and I hug Steve and he drives back to his place I wave him bye as he's leaving
