Chapter 06
The past two weeks I’ve been apart from the world and mom was starting to freak out, because I was always home taking care of her and Helen. Maybe she was right, but she almost lost the baby and I just wanted to make sure they were alright. It was not like I was losing something interesting, I didn’t really have an occupied social agenda, I still saw Kim and Seth every day at school. I haven’t seen Pete too much though; maybe he just got tired of me. Things between Owen and I were just normal, I think, I barely saw him in biology and we only spoke in our laboratory sessions. I spoke with the Principal about my situation at home, so the tutoring classes were on standby for a while. Noah and Veronica were better than ever and probably he was right and I was just imagining he was jealous, he definitely got over us long time ago.
As usual I finished my homework and waited until Kim arrived from her volleyball practice just to hang out. I missed those practices though; playing was a good way to spend my energy and stopped thinking about stupid romantic stuff. We talked about everything going on at school and on the team. She was really happy because she was named the team captain; she got really good. I barely managed to stay on the team since I haven’t gone to the practices lately.
The next morning dad finally let me use mom’s car to go to school, I liked going to school with Kim, but it was still nice to go by myself. Once I was at school, I walked straight to my locker to grab the books for the day and I was surprised to see Pete leaning against my locker. I couldn’t help but smile, he was waiting for me, that was obvious and I really liked to see him again.
“Hey.” I said still smiling. I must have looked like an idiot. Why did I have to smile all the time?
“Good morning.” He looked a little tired.
“I haven’t seen you in a while.” I said nonchalantly, I wasn’t going to let him know how much I’ve missed him.
“Yeah, I’ve been studying really hard to go back on the team again.”
“How’s that?” I asked confused, I didn’t know anything about that.
“Owen’s parents took away his car; well my parents told the coach I won’t play this year, unless I improve my grades. So I’m kind of lost.” He looked so disappointed.
“Hey, mom and Helen are fine… if you need some help, I’ll help you.” I said smiling.
“Will you do that for me?” He asked surprised, but a smirk appeared on his face.
“Sure-” He cut me off by hugging me tightly.
“You’re the best.” He smiled from ear to ear.
“Yes, I am.” I said smirking.
“But… what about Owen?” He asked knowing that Owen probably wouldn’t like him to be around while I’m tutoring him. This was going to be very complicated.
“I have no idea, but we can study here at school on our free hours or something.” I couldn’t come with anything better than that.
“… or we can go to my house.” He whispered with a smirk on his face. I was speechless, I still didn’t know if I wanted to do this. Sure Pete was extremely hot and he has been really nice to me, but I didn’t really know him. I didn’t know what to answer and it seemed like he was waiting for an answer. Luckily for me Kim came into view, she looked a little irritated.
“Damn.” I murmured. I forgot to tell her I was driving to school today.
“What’s wrong?” Pete asked confused.
“Why didn’t you tell me your dad let you drive your mom’s car today, I was waiting for you like an idiot.” She talked really fast.
“Sorry.” I smiled sheepishly at her. She sighed heavily and smiled back, but then she noticed Pete and her smile turned into a scowl.
