Chapter 02
We were in the library doing our Biology homework, during our free period. “So… what are you planning to do with Owen?” Kim asked curious.
“I don’t know yet. I’ve never done anything bad or embarrassing to anyone.” I said frowning.
“Do you really think this is a good idea? He could do something to you instead.” She warned me.
“It’s a terrible idea, but I don’t care. I think we could have a lot of fun and he deserves it. I just need to figure out how to piss him off.” I said thoughtfully.
“And maybe doing this you could forget about the new couple.” She said with a flat expression. “What’s wrong with Veronica? Do you really believe that she wants to be your friend?”
“I believe her, she’s nice and we are on the same team. But I have to admit every time I see them, holding hands, I feel the urge to cry and scream. It hurts.” I said the last part sounding really sad.
“I told you it was a bad idea. You can’t be friends with them, not now. That’s the reason I prefer to be single. Boys suck.” Kim whispered and with a scowl on her face.
“Yeah, but being in love or just liking a guy could make you feel good, really good. On the other hand the break up does suck.” I said smiling. Kim was about to say something, when some guy came to our table. He looked younger than us, probably a sophomore.
“Joyce Foster?” He asked me. I nodded and he handed me a piece of paper. I look at it confused and when I looked up again the kid was gone.
“What’s that?” Kim asked curious trying to read what was written on it.
“It’s from Owen. He wants to see me before lunch.”
“You shouldn’t go alone. Let’s find Seth, he can go with you.” Kim said with a worried expression. I was a little worried too. Owen wasn’t happy with me yesterday. We packed our laptops and books and walked down the hallway to find Seth, but before we could find him I spotted Owen leaning casually against my locker.
“I can’t go there.” Kim said looking pale.
“I’ll go alone. Go find Seth.” I said smiling. She didn’t need to know how worried I was. Kim nodded and walked to the opposite direction. I took a deep breath and walked towards my locker. Then I noticed Owen was with another guy. I could barely handle Owen. Life was not fair with me.
“What do you want?” I asked, but he didn’t answer. He and his friend turned their heads sideways trying to read my shirt. “It should say stupid instead of funny.” I said smirking. They stared back at me again.
“That’s funny.” His friend said grinning stupidly. I looked at him confused. Was he retarded or something? I was acting quite bitchy.
“Who are you?” I asked him raising an eyebrow.
