Chapter 04

I ignored Owen for the rest of the week; I was not going to waste my time with him. He didn’t even try to apologize, I was sure it wasn’t my fault at all. Luckily, Principal Schroeder hadn’t called me to know about our classes. Finally it was Friday and I was waiting for the weekend to get some time alone and away from this situation for a while. During lunch I remained silent while Kim and Seth were arguing like always.

“Why so quiet?” A voice took me by surprise. I looked up to see who it was.

“Oh, hi Pete.” I smiled to him.

“Are you mad at me?” He asked and took the seat next to me.

“No. Why do you ask that?” I asked confused.

“You haven’t talk to me in three days. I thought I did something wrong.” He looked a little down, not his usual happy face.

“You haven’t done anything wrong. I was avoiding Owen, but I’ve never thought I was avoiding you as well. I just thought you didn’t want to talk to me again.”

“Are you kidding? I enjoy talking to you.” Pete said smirking and getting closer to me. I looked at him confused again.

“What are you doing?”

“Nothing… you smell really good.” He whispered in my ear and his warm breath sent shivers down my spine. He wasn’t touching me, but he was capable of producing these reactions on my body; he started kissing my neck and I, instinctively, closed my eyes to enjoy the stimulation.

“Wow, get a room!” Seth shouted and I opened my eyes. Everyone around us started laughing. This was so embarrassing. I wasn’t like that, why did I let him do that to me? It just felt too good to say no.

“You taste good too.” He said smiling widely.

“Shut up.” I said trying to hide my embarrassment, but I could feel my face burning. Suddenly the bell rang signaling it was time to get back to class, I got up quickly and left before he could say anything else.

“Hey, what was that? This is the second time he does that to you.” Kim said frowning.

“It’s nothing, he’s just a friend.” I wasn’t even sure why he did it.

“Well, you should talk to him. If he keeps doing that everyone would think the worst of you.” She sounded a little angry. I didn’t really care what people think of me, this was just for fun, I thought. Why took things so seriously? He wasn't forcing me to do anything.

“Maybe I like what he is doing.” I said smiling. Kim looked at me flatly and then started laughing along with me. “You have to admit my face was probably funny.”

“Yes, it was. But promise me you’ll be safe.” She said serious again.

“Uhg, Kim shut up. I’m not going to have sex with him. Do you think I’m a slut?”

“Of course not, I just want you to be safe.” She gave me a sweet smile.

“You sound like my mom.” I laughed slightly. We walked to our next class and just like I thought, no one really cared about what happened in the cafeteria. I loved this school.

The classes passed in a blur and when I noticed, the day was over. We were waiting for Seth in the parking lot, we were going to hang out for a while in his house, mostly because we wanted to see his car and then we would probably go to see a movie or something.

“Jo!” I turned around and saw Pete running towards us. Kim’s groan made me smile. She didn’t like Pete, maybe because he was Owen’s best friend, but just to be clear Pete wasn’t with us in middle school. I wondered if he knew his friend was a bully.
