yokohama nights are silent, with only the occasional accompaniment of gunfire and explosions when the port mafia decided that something had to go. the seas are quiet, with the waves gently crashing against the stones and the wind blowing through the streets.
yokohama nights are empty of stars. there has been too much light pollution that followed in the footsteps of the development of mankind, blanketing the night sky with dark blues and blacks. if you asked any elderly living in yokohama, they would've just sighed and shook their head. "it's much too late," they would say. "the sky is too dark for you to see the stars again."
yokohama nights don't have shooting stars, or meteor showers, or asteroids that streak across the navy sky and part the clouds. yokohama nights don't have rocks from space crashing into the large, dense forests that border some of the quieter places of the city, shaking the earth and waking the civilians. yokohama nights don't stink of melting rock and metal and trees, and don't have large flaming rocks embedding themselves into the grass.
but tonight is not a regular yokohama night. a figure jolts as the asteroid hits the ground, impact blowing a few leaves off their body. they shift their arms, clothes rustling, dirt shifting off their body. pulling themselves into a sitting position, white hair spills down their shoulders in two ponytails, and they reach their hands up to brush off the last stray leaves from their head.
"just how long..."
their green eyes turn to gaze at the steaming rock, before they move again to stand up. brushing off their clothes, they turn their green eyes to the blinding lights of the city nearby.
"... have i been sleeping for?"
