"kid?" the elf poked the shoulder of the man lightly, drawing him out of his daze. the two of them were in a small convenience store at the outskirts of tokyo, loading a basket with snacks for the drive back to yokohama.
the man slowly tore his eyes away from the box of black tea in his hand to look at the elf. he made a small sound of acknowledgement, as if asking them what they needed from him.
"what do you want for dinner?" they held up two packaged bentos in front of him, and he glanced between them. on the right was a regular omurice, and on the left was a katsudon. he tilted his head to the side, considering his choices.
"if you keep furrowing your brows, you'll get wrinkles in a few years." ah, he didn't even notice it happening. silly him.
"i'll just have what you're having," he finally answered, turning back to the box of black tea in his hands. should i buy this? i'm running out... or could i just ask kouyou for some?
the elf left his side for a few seconds, returning with two boxes of omurice in their hands before placing them in the basket beside the man.
"you can just ask kouyou for some. i'm pretty sure she has some to spare," the elf told him, skipping off again to pick out some ice cream for dessert. everything was on this man's card, anyways.
he nodded, placing the box back onto the shelf before picking up the basket to follow after them. the two of them look through the ice cream choices in the freezer, before picking out a different flavour each. the man wrinkles his nose at the orange flavoured popsicle in the elf's hands, but doesn't say anything.
soon enough, they walk out of the convenience store with plastic bags of food and snacks, heading towards the black car parked to the side.
akutagawa may be a highly paid mafioso now, but he still enjoys going on convenience store runs with the elf. it's just habitual at this point.
"will the ice cream melt by the time we get back?"
"i'll just magic it into ice cream again if it does."
