~Moon~
"Moon, you need to stop doing this to yourself," Qibli said, taking my hands in his.
"You can save yourself," I cried, pulling my hands away. "Are you staying with me just so I can remember every day that you want kids and I can't give you that?"
"No!" Qibli cried. "Moon, I don't mind that you can't have kids, okay? And besides, there are other ways!"
"I want one that is truly mine and truly yours," I sobbed, wiping my tears. "But that's the one thing I can't give you!"
"I'm not with you just for kids, Moon!" Qibli yelled, grabbing my shoulders.
"Then why are you with me?" I yelled back, shoving him away. "Why? Why would you want to be with me when I stand in the way of you having a chance at a family?"
"Because you are my family," Qibli shouted. "Moon, I'm with you because I love you! I love you but for some reason, you won't let me! Why won't you let me love you?"
My breath was shaking as I wiped the tears that just kept seeping from my eyes.
"You deserve better, that's why," I finally said, quietly. "Any other woman could give you what you want."
"You're all I want, Moon," Qibli gently said, taking a small step toward me, but I turned and walked upstairs, locking the door behind me.
"*"
Qibli whirled on me, his eyes widened in disbelief and shock.
"You..." he started, but he couldn't finish his sentence.
I was almost shaking in fear. Maybe Qibli didn't want children anymore. Maybe he knew he'd be happier if it was just him and me forever.
"This was that super-important thing I wanted to tell you earlier," I said gently, avoiding eye contact. "Luna told me that I should just tell you now and not after the funeral, so I did."
Qibli still wasn't speaking, which worried me. "And that's why we were let out," I quickly explained. "Luna and I are both pregnant, so the men who abducted us kicked us out right after." I let out a small breath. "Uh, I'm a month in. Almost two. I, uh, I have an ultrasound appointment tomorrow and I didn't want to go without you."
Qibli seemed as if he didn't believe me. "You're messing with me, right?"
"No," I insisted. "I wouldn't joke about this. I really am pregnant, and I don't want to be pregnant without you, so please tell me that you still want a baby and you're not going to leave me if you don't."
Qibli turned around and stared back at the items I had displayed in front of him. He gently lifted the pregnancy test and stared at it for a few moments before putting it down and lifting the miniature onesie.
I took a few cautious steps forward, stopping until I was right behind him. "Please say some–" I was cut off when Qibli turned around and pulled me into a gentle hug. I expected more of a bone-crushing hug but received the opposite.
"I love you," he whispered to me, softly kissing my neck.
Okay, so he's happy, then? Does this mean I can stop worrying? Or is this where my problems really begin?
Qibli pulled away from me. "Wait, but I thought–"
"I thought so, too," I said. "It's a miracle, Qibli."
"So you're really..." He looked down at my stomach, slightly reaching for it. "Can I?"
I nodded and he slightly lifted my shirt. The bump was clearer now that I stopped worrying to realize it. Qibli gently rested a hand on my stomach.
