~Moon~
The van's engine sputtered for a moment before starting, and we were all yanked back by the sudden movement.
The person who seemed to be in charge of the whole thing ducked and examined all of us. After taking a mental count, I realized there were 10 of us, including me and the woman I tried saving.
"This one's pregnant," he mused, nodding at the woman. "What's your name?"
"Why should I tell you," she spat out bitterly, standing her ground.
The man scoffed out a harsh laugh before reaching forward and gripping the woman's chin in between his thumb and index finger. "I suggest you drop the attitude and answer my question, sweetheart. That is if you want to keep that precious child of yours."
The woman narrowed her eyes. I could tell she was trying to act fierce and stay stubborn, but she was also dying of fear on the inside.
"Luna," she muttered. "My name's Luna. Happy?"
The man observed her for a long moment before looking over his shoulder and nodding at one of the other men. The one he signaled to crouched beside him and started untying Luna's knots.
The one who had Luna's chin trapped in his grip pulled away and slapped her before grabbing her face. "Tell anyone about what you saw, and I will personally find you and kill you," he said menacingly before turning to the crowd of women. "Anyone else?"
A silence dropped into the van, and I seriously debated whether or not I should tell him I was.
"This one looks guilty," one of the men in the background accused, nodding in my direction. Luna glanced at me as I squirmed under everyone's gazes. "Check her."
The leader then reached forward and lifted the sweater I was wearing, examining my stomach with disregard for how I felt about the situation.
"She is," he finally grumbled annoyingly. "Do pregnant couples just wander here like love-struck idiots? Is there anyone else?" he demanded as one of the men started to untie my knots. There were no responses, and no accusations were thrown.
Suddenly, the van did a sharp U-turn and drove back in the direction of the park. Once it came to a halt, two men roughly seized Luna and me, and two others threw open the van doors.
They shoved us out of the doors, tossing us onto the grass with no remorse whatsoever. I tripped over my feet and fell forward, catching myself with my hands.
"Don't make a new enemy," the leader advised as I rolled onto my back before he slammed the door in our faces. The engine sputtered to a start before the van drove off, illegally shifting between lanes.
Luna let out a shaky breath, falling back next to me in utter relief. We both sat there, breathing heavily.
I turned to look at her and she did the same.
"Thank you," Luna breathed as she ran a hand through her hair. "That was brave of you. I mean, attacking a bunch of men for me? I'm impressed."
"Don't sweat it," I said, weakly smiling. "Us women have to stick together, am I right?" That made Luna smile.
"Hey, what's your name?" she asked.
"Moon!" Qibli's voice shouted. I looked over my shoulder and saw him running over to us.
I looked back at Luna and grinned. "Does that answer your question?" I turned around and gave Qibli a sheepish smile. The second he reached me and helped me up, he pulled me into a tight hug.
"Why would you do that?" he demanded, not letting me go. I gently hugged him.
"Sorry," I apologized.
