It was two minutes, then three, then four, then five, then ten. Moon still wasn't awake, and at some point her body collapsed, and I had to quickly catch her. That was it. She was trapped. Luna clenched her fists and turned away so she wouldn't cry, but I felt most angry. Still, I decided to cover it. I decided that showing it wasn't going to solve anything at all.
With a slow and deep breath, I murmured. "Okay. That... didn't work." I was now holding Moon bridal style as I tried to calm my palpitating heart. I could only hope she kept her promise and didn't go too far into the future. Funnily enough, she was still gripping tightly to the bracelet, despite being in a deep sleep.
"I-is she okay?" Willow worriedly asked. "Is there some way we can know how far she traveled?" Fathom very slowly shook her head.
"Mommy?" Guppy, for the first time, spoke. She turned her head to look at Indigo. "What happened to that girl?"
Indigo met her gaze and slowly said, "She's just sleeping."
I turned to Willow and Fathom. "Will this affect our babies?" It was a valid question. Did I need to expect anything to go wrong from this?
"As long as her main body is taken care off, I don't think her being pregnant will affect anything," Willow said. She walked forward and looked at me questioningly. "Um... can I?" I nodded and watched as she pressed her hands over Moon's stomach, feeling every corner and crevice and even pressing her ear down on it at some point. Meanwhile, during Moon's little checkup, Sundew started getting mad again.
"So that shit clearly didn't work," she grumbled. "What the hell do we do n—" As if the heavens decided to be in sync with her, there was a deep and lowly pitch that resembled an explosion, but not just quite. Luna, Willow, and Indigo jumped, turning their heads to the side to see just what it was.
"Get down!" Cyclone shouted. I acted on reflex and immediately fell to a crouch. The others were a little late, and so they just barely missed the large rock whisking over our heads and slamming into the wall behind us. Willow let out a blood-curdling scream, and Sundew grabbed her so hard that when Willow crashed into her, it sent both of them to the ground. Fathom was clinging tightly to Indigo, who clung tightly to Guppy, who was crying. Luna was trembling from beside me, her eyes wide in terror as the rock that crashed into the wall set it ablaze.
It was on fire, and the flames licked and dragged further and further up the Breath of Evil.
"Hold your breath!" Indigo shouted as a black smoke with a slightly greenish color erupted into the atmosphere. Cyclone reacted quicker than I and tore a piece of his shirt, reached for one of the bottles of water shoved into the side of Fathom's backpack, and drenched the piece of cloth so much that it got significantly heavier. He pressed this to Moon's face as I stood, already holding my breath. I sent him a nod of appreciation, and he nodded back with a playful smile that definitely didn't go well with what was happening.
Sundew pointed vigorously at the hole now in the wall, and we all ran across the marble floors to reach it. There was suddenly a loud cackling coming from the midst of the smoke, and sure enough, steeping into the clearing, was Leopard, laughing his ass off with his head thrown back. He gladly inhaled the smoke—it didn't affect him one bit.
"This is hilarious!" he shouted, cackling loudly, I stiffened as I watched large and thick vines form an x over our only exit, and the others already closest to it skidded to a stop and whirled around. He can control the vines as well?! I spun around and glared. We won't be able to hold our breaths for long.
"Lookie here!" the psychotic man continued. He squinted at me and then at Moon laying bridal style in my arms. Those sinister eyes sent shivers down my spine, and I instinctively pulled Moon closer. "Is that my damsel in distress? Ha! Not even awake to deny me again! Could this have gone better?!" He had a crazed look in his eyes as he started taking slow and heavy steps forward. The marble floors were now littered in debris, and the rock from earlier slammed a few meters from the enchanted house, digging deeper and deeper into the earth until is came to a stilled stop.
