Sakura trudged through the streets of Konoha with a glowering demeanor, her feet slightly dragging behind her yet didn't make a sound. Being a ninja meant you could pout in silence, literally. She looked around the familiar streets and buildings, as Sakura made her way to the Hokage's office for a new solo mission, since everyone else was somewhere else.
It was boring without the rest of her team around and it sucked to say the least, with Sia running an Anbu branch, Kakashi and Yamato both going on long term missions, and Naruto training with a Sannin, everything was quiet. The streets were bustling with trades and conversations that Sakura blocked out.
The Hokage office came into view, and she held back an internal sigh, Sakura was one of the strongest Ninjas right now since everyone else was out on missions. That's what everyone thought, they didn't know she could hold her own against almost everyone in Konoha. That's how it was, she was a civilian with no future of becoming a famous ninja. As she strode through the halls she approached a familiar door, and came to a stop in front of it. Knocking three times, a moment after she heard a feminine voice speak up,
"Come in." Sakura obeyed and entered the office swiftly, closing the door behind her and looking at Tsunade, the fifth Hokage, with a straight face.
"You called for me, Lady Hokage?" Sakura spoke up and took a seat in front of the desk, respectfully bowing her head as she spoke. Tsunade-sama nodded in response and gestured for Sakura to stop bowing. Before placing some stray papers to the side and resting her elbows on the desk.
"Yes I did, Sakura, I have an S-rank mission that will suit your skill level perfectly." Tsunade started with a small grin, though something felt wrong that made Sakura's stomach churn.
"Aren't I only a Chunin though?" Tsunade nodded at the girl's obvious observation.
"It implies you are going away to an island off the coast of Konoha since it has recently gained popularity amongst locals and becoming a citizen in the village there. It will imply you going on a boat and leaving most of your things behind." Sakura's head shot up with slight discomfort, there it was. She hated how her hunch was always right.
"But Lady Hokage! How long will I even be gone for? Will I still be a ninja here?" She asked with a slight confusion at the lack of information, a million thoughts racing through her mind as she was about to speak up again until the Hokage stopped her.
"well..." Tsunade started, effectively shutting Sakura up.
"You will still be considered a ninja to Konoha. However, you will no longer be a citizen. And for how long? That is to be determined depending on how long you take, there is more information in the scroll you'll read if you accept." she explained monatonely, her grin dropping to another serious stare. Sakura was having a rough time swallowing this information, people would miss her, her friends, family- Sakura froze. everyone was away, her parents were gone, no one would miss her. Sakura would probably cry if it weren't for the fact she was in the presence of the Hokage. After a few seconds of intense thought, Sakura spoke up.
"I accept Lady Hokage, when will I leave?" Sakura spoke up meekly as she stood up to leave, Tsunade only nodded.
"You leave tomorrow, and will go on the first boat there, and don't worry. Everything will already be packed so you can say your goodbyes without much worry," Tsunade had a soft smile on her face, Sakura internally sighed, like she had anyone to say goodbye to. Sakura just bit back that response, took the scroll, and bowed before leaving the office, as she left the building she zoned out. Mostly thinking about where she was going, until she spotted a familiar hyuga approaching, and proceeded to accidentally bump into him.
