Anirudh stepped out of his room, freshly showered and dressed, as he made his way toward the dining area. The clinking of utensils and the soft murmur of conversation faded the moment he entered, replaced by an unusual silence. Trilochan, Sampoorna, and Somnath sat at the table, their eyes immediately locking onto him with a scrutinizing intensity that made him pause mid-step.

As he walked closer, he couldn't shake off the unsettling weight of their gazes. It was as if they were examining every little detail about him-his expressions, his stance, the very air around him. A growing sense of confusion gnawed at him. Why were they looking at him like that? Had he done something unusual?

Furrowing his brows, he finally voiced his concern, his tone laced with bewilderment.

"Kya hua aap log mujhe aise ghoor kar kyun dekh rahe hain?"

Trilochan, sitting at the head of the table, leaned back slightly in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he observed Anirudh with keen curiosity.

"Nahi, matlab... aaj tu kuchh badle-badle se nahi lag raha hai?" he questioned, arching an inquisitive eyebrow.

Anirudh, caught off guard, blinked rapidly, struggling to form a coherent response. His throat suddenly felt dry, and he cleared it awkwardly, fumbling with his words.

"Aree... aree, aisa kuchh nahi hai, Kaka... woh toh... bas-woh... woh... tho... bas..." he stammered, his voice carrying an undeniable note of nervousness.

Trilochan, clearly amused by Anirudh's unusual hesitation, smirked knowingly.

"Woh... tho... woh... tho... ho gaya ho toh baith kar khana khao," he remarked, shaking his head, as if deciding to let the matter slide-for now.

Anirudh let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding and nodded quickly.

"Ji, Kaka..."

Taking a seat at the table, he watched as Sampoorna silently placed food in front of him, her expression unreadable yet observant. His mind lingered on their odd behavior for a moment longer before he brushed it aside, deciding it was best not to dwell on it.

As he quietly ate, Trilochan took a sip of water before placing his glass down with a decisive clink.

"Anirudh, theek se kha lena. Hamara khana ho gaya, hum chal rahe hain bahar. Jamindari ka kuchh kaam hai, woh sab dekh kar shaam tak ghar aa jaunga," he informed, getting up from his seat.

Anirudh nodded, swallowing his bite before responding.

"Thik hai, Kaka."

Somnath, who had been silently observing the interaction, suddenly stood up as well.

"Chaliye, Kaka. Main bhi aapke saath aata hoon," he offered.

Trilochan gave him an approving nod.

"Haan, chal," he said simply, and with that, the two of them left, their presence quickly dissipating from the house.

Anirudh focused on finishing his meal, taking his time to savor each bite, but his thoughts remained preoccupied. Something about the morning felt... different. Shaking his head, he eventually pushed back his chair, washed his hands, and made his way back to his room. He needed to get ready for court.

Stepping inside, he unbuttoned his waistcoat, sighing as he loosened his collar. His fingers absentmindedly ran through his slightly damp hair before he made his way toward the washroom. The cool tiles met his feet as he turned on the shower, letting the water wash away any lingering thoughts of the strange morning encounter.
