꧁༺𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐀༻꧂

It was late.

The night had wrapped around the mansion like a cozy shawl, and I was still giggling softly while talking to Naina on the phone.

"Accha bas ab, tu bhi so ja!" I whispered with a smile as I reached our bedroom door, phone still in my hand.

(Alright, enough now, you go sleep too!)

Click. The call ended.

I pushed open the door, the familiar warmth of our room welcoming me as I stepped in.

And then-

Slam.

I barely had time to shut the door behind me before I was suddenly pinned to it-my back hitting the wood with a soft thud, and a scream almost tore from my throat.

"Ah-!"

But I stopped.

Because the face in front of me... that wicked smirk... that messy hair... and those intense eyes-

It was a buffalo.

A big, hot buffalo.

My buffalo.

Anirudh Roy Chowdhury.

"Anirudh?" I blinked, trying to make sense of it, my voice stammering.

He didn't answer. Instead, his face inched closer with that sinful grin still playing on his lips.

"Scaring me now, are you?" I whispered, heart thudding in my chest.

He leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear.

"Tumhe laga tum bach jaogi, Bondita Roy Chowdhury?"

(You thought you'd escape, Bondita Roy Chowdhury?)

My breath hitched. My hands pushed lightly at his chest, but he didn't budge. Of course he wouldn't.

"W-We're not supposed to meet from tomorrow, remember? Shaadi ke pehle!"

(Before the wedding!)

He chuckled-a dark, delicious sound that curled right into my belly. "Toh aaj raat toh bachi hai na, meri jaan?"

(So tonight's still left, right, my love?)

My cheeks turned red. Oh god, what was I even supposed to do with this man?

His gaze was intense, but there was something else swimming in those deep eyes tonight.

Something tender. Something that made my breath catch.

Anirudh slowly released my hands, but his touch lingered-warm, possessive, and gentle, like I was the most fragile thing in his world.

He didn't move away. Instead, he leaned in closer, his fingers brushing a strand of hair behind my ear as his eyes traced every inch of my face.

"Tum jaanti ho na, Bondita..." he whispered, voice low and soft like velvet, "...main duniya ke kisi kone mein kyun na hoon, tumhari ek muskaan meri zindagi badal deti hai."

(...no matter where I am in the world, one smile from you changes my entire life.)

I blinked slowly, lips parting, caught off guard by the shift in his tone. He wasn't teasing anymore.

He was loving. Raw. Honest. "Tum ho toh sab kuch hai... tum na ho toh sab kuch khaali."

(If you're here, I have everything... without you, everything feels empty.)
