love and loss - a Mark Sloan love story

Part 2 - first official day

 Season 4 episode 2 

 It is Aurora's first official day as a resident at Seattle Grace hospital and she wakes up excited, energetic almost with a hint of nerves. Before making her way out of her bedroom for breakfast, she decides to get dressed so that she feels more ready for the day ahead. The blonde exits her room when suddenly she stops, surprised by the fact that a black haired woman is cooking in her kitchen.

"You're up!" Callie states as she turns to face he blonde with a grin pinned across her face "I'm making breakfast, it's the least I can do since you let me crash on your couch."

"You didn't have to do this but I must say it smells amazing." Aurora announces as she slightly sniffs the air "Mmmm bacon." she continues as she sits down on a stool near the breakfast bar.

"Yes. Waffles, maple syrup, whipped cream and bacon." Callie replies as she turns to the blonde again.

"You really didn't have to do this." Aurora states, feeling slightly guilty.

"I know but I wanted to, I wanted to make sure that you have a good first day."

"Thank you, really. I appreciate it Callie." The blonde grins

Callie and Aurora eat breakfast together, they are constantly laughing and can't stop smiling. They then proceed to get ready for the day and they head into work together. They get changed into scrubs when Callie says "I forgot to mention that you are on Dr Sloans service today. Good luck."

"You waited till now!" Aurora replies as she turns to Callie giving her a stern look as Callie just smiles and walks off.

Aurora gets up and exits the residents lounge, she is expected to meet her interns this morning before later meeting with Dr Sloan and be his resident for the week. She sees a group of 3 lost looking interns outside of the residents lounge and assumes that they are her interns. 

"You must be my interns. I'm Aurora Quinn, it's nice to officially meet you all. I apologise for my day lateness." They smile at her as in to signal for her to continue, "As you probably know, I am from England. I moved her for a fresh start and I'm excited to be your resident. So, tell me about yourselves."

All three of her interns, Joseph Dane (26), Florence Harper(24) and Christian Banks (25) all introduce themselves and explain why they are here. Christian seems to boast about his life and grades more than the others, Aurora can already tell that he has a bigger ego than the others. Despite Florence being the youngest of them all so she's clearly clever and she gets the impression that Joesph is shy because he stays a little quieter but she's sure he'll change once they all really get to know each other.  

"The plan for today is to start with rounds and learn about the surgery that Dr Sloan is performing today, everyone will start the day with me today. Tomorrow will be easier, we will do pre rounds to prepare and meet earlier here. During rounds or after feel free to ask me questions or for assistance. After rounds, I will choose one of you to watch the surgery with Dr Sloan today first hand. However, the other two could watch from the gallery and will be assigned with scut or the pit or I will send you to the clinic. Is that understood?" They all nod and slightly whisper to one another before Aurora continues. "I want to be clear here, I am your resident, your superior so I would like to be treated with respect and I will treat you with respect as well, I also don't have favourites. I want you to use your time wisely here, to practice skills and I want to see the skill you already have. I will teach you where needed and in majority of opportunities. If you want to learn something specific from me, please feel free to ask. I don't bite. That's all from me for now, we should get going to find Dr Sloan, I do not want to be late on my first day!" Aurora starts to walk off but her interns don't follow, as if still making notes from their conversation. The blonde woman, turns to her interns and signals for them to follow, "Come, when I move you move" they run after her and continue following her with a small smile pinned across their face, eager for the day ahead.
