Ever since the press conference last Thursday, the news has exploded, just as I expected. My words left many questions unanswered and raised speculations towards Alferink. However, those were my exact intentions.

In the past, I had received many bribes from Alferink, as well as many other corporations, to keep my mouth shut and cover up the truth. Technically, this time, I had done the same thing. While I do know that the incident was no mere accident, I never specifically gave the exact truth behind it. I left it up to others to find out.

It just makes this whole game more fun.

For the past few days, I've paid little attention to that matter, and instead pinned my focus on my work. I have been editing various news articles written by my subordinates without a break. I intend to wrap up as much as I can before the end of the week.

I scroll down to continue reviewing, and there are two small knocks on my door. "Come in."

As expected, it's Ms. Loman, who walks into the room without hesitation. "We should leave now for the meeting with Alferink Construction, sir."

She had reminded me of this earlier, but I had been so absorbed in my work that it slipped my mind. Just after the news of the press conference reached the media, I already had Alferink calling my office to schedule a meeting with me.

I sigh, standing up and brushing back my suit jacket. I gesture for her to lead the way, as she is the one who organized what meeting room it would be held in. Normally, I would've gone to them myself, but I couldn't be bothered to stray too far from my work this time.

When we reach the room, I hear the chatter of several Alferink representatives behind the door. I grimace at the noise and Ms. Loman waits for my approval to open the door. I give her a curt nod, and she pushes down on the handle and steps inside the room, holding the door open for me.

I fake a welcoming smile and step inside. Many of the representatives stand up to greet me and shake my hand, which I do. Behind me, I get a glimpse of the door closing and Ms. Loman disappearing from my view.

"Ms. Loman?" I call out.

The door stops, and she peeks in, just enough for me to see her. "Sir?"

"Stay by my side."

She is quick to decline my order. "I'm afraid I would be inflicting on a private conversation-"

"Nonsense. I'm sure these gentlemen won't mind," I turn to the representatives. "Right?"

One of them speaks up. "It's alright with me. But are you sure this conversation won't leave her mouth?"

"I'm certain." I smile as I make my way over to the end of the table. I wave Ms. Loman over, to which she closes the door behind her and comes to stand by my side.
