"DANGER IS SWEET."
Wednesday, October 25th
As we approach the steps to the mansion, I wonder what I am even doing here. In the Gold Coast neighborhoods of Chicago, historic and luxurious mansions sit side by side. They may be not as modern as the Hirai mansion, but they are without a doubt just as expensive.
Since my work as Eros' assistant is not quite complete, I had to accompany him for this visit that he labeled as "work related". Though I am not sure how a trip to his parent's home has anything to do with a news company.
From what he's told me, both of his parents are successful actors. That explains the mansion we stand in front of now.
When Eros rings the doorbell, a woman comes to the door. She's dressed in a uniform, so I assume that she is some kind of housekeeper or maid. As the door opens and she gets a look at who is standing in front of it, a terrified expression forms on her face. This woman is afraid of Eros.
She lets us in and timidly says, "I will let your parents know you're here." The woman hurriedly heads down the hall and turns a corner.
Eros gestures for me to step into the foyer, acting as if the woman's behavior is normal. He closes the door behind me, and I take a good look at the inside of the house. The floors are a dark hardwood, and the walls are painted a light gray with a white trim. The two staircases that split to an open hallway in the middle are white and trimmed with black.
From around a corner, a man and woman make their way down the hall. At first glance, I can already tell who they are. Eros resembles his father. The same handsome face with brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a glum expression and it doesn't change when he sees his son. Eros' mother is beautiful, and exactly someone you would expect to see on the big screen.
As they approach us, his father stays behind his wife. It almost looks as if he is guarding her.
"You look happy to see me," Eros says with a sarcastic tone.
His mother's lip twitches, but she plays it off with a cheery voice. "It has been a long time since we've seen you." She peers at me and forces a smile. "And who is this?"
Eros turns to me. "This is my assistant, Mavis."
I extend my hand out to his mother first with a smile. "It is nice to meet you, ma'am."
I feel a pair of blue eyes on me. Eros' gaze is dark and his eyes are narrow. He must not like me getting friendly with his mother.
"It's a pleasure. I'm Jessalyn, " she shakes my hand before gesturing towards his father. "This is my husband, Christian."
I shake his hand as well, and Eros cracks his fingers subtly. It turns the attention of his mother, who seems to be skittish around him.
"What brings you here?" Christian Montell doesn't even bother to greet his son, but instead gets right to business. From what I've seen so far, it's clear that neither of them want Eros in their house.
