"THE POISON IS IN THE TAIL."
Friday, July 21st
Each day it's one meeting after another. If we're lucky, there's only one a day. But that sort of luck is very rare. Usually most of the meetings are at our own office building, however today we had to travel.
It's another meeting with Alferink Construction, but this time, it's only with the assistant director and a legal advisor of the company. Eros is already inside the meeting room, and I'm on my way there now with coffee for each of them.
When I get to the door, a security guard stops me. "What business do you have here, ma'am?" he asks.
"I have coffee for Mr. Montell and the assistant director," I reply, holding it up for him to see.
"What is your surname?" He looks me up and down while holding up a radio.
"May I ask why you need that?" I ask, getting irritated.
He moves completely in front of the door. "We only let certain guests in. This is a private meeting. I'll have to ask you to leave if you don't tell me your name."
"Its-"
Before I can finish my sentence, the door opens from behind the guard. "Is there an issue?"
"Sir!" the guard exclaims. I look past him, but only to find that the person is the assistant director.
"Do you have a reason for harassing Mr. Montell's assistant?" he questions.
"Well sir, it's mandatory that we-"
I feel a hand on my lower back, and I'm pulled gently into the room. The assistant director smiles at the guard and thanks him for doing his job, but then tells him that he'll handle it from here.
Just as I turn to thank the assistant director for allowing me in here, his hand slides further down my back. "Go ahead, sweetheart," he coos.
I fight the urge to throw his hot coffee on him, but I resist. From across the room, I see Eros with his hands clasped together. His eyes aren't on me, rather, they are focused on the assistant director. His eye twitches slightly, but he puts on a smile.
I set down the latte for Eros first, then the two hot coffees for the assistant director and legal advisor. I bring the now empty drink carrier to one of the tables on the side of the room and I move behind Eros' chair.
