I was dreaming. A woman running in a field in a beautiful, flowing, white dress. She was happy, laughing as she ran. Then all of a sudden, she was in a dark room, chains on her wrists, crying. Then it was all red and I jumped up as I woke up. Dean seemed to have just woken up from a nightmare as well. We both noticed Castiel on the end of our bed.
"Hello, Dean, Ali. What were you dreaming about?" he asked.
"What, do you get your freak on by watching other people sleep? What do you want?" I asked.
"Listen to me. You have to stop it." Castiel said.
"Stop what?" Dean asked
Castiel put two fingers to Dean and I's forehead.
Dean and I were sleeping on a bench.
"Move it buddy – you can't sleep here." a police officer said as we woke up.
"Okay... sleep... where?" I asked.
"Anywhere but here." he said. Dean tried to call someone on his phone, but got no signal.
"Perfect." Dean said. He helped me up and we walked into a nearby diner.
We sat next to a young man.
"Hey, where the hell am I?" Dean asked him.
"Jay Bird's Diner." the man said.
"Yeah, thanks. I mean, uh... city and state." I asked.
"Lawrence, Kansas." the man said.
"Lawrence." Dean said.
"Hey, you okay buddy?" the man asked.
"Yeah, tough night." Dean said.
"Hey, uh, coffee here, Reg." the man said, pointing to us.
"Okay, coming right up." the waiter said. I leaned my head on Dean's shoulder as he pulled out his phone.
"Can you tell me where I can get reception on this thing?" Dean asked the man.
"The USS Enterprise?" the man said. Dean and I looked at Reg as he brought us our coffee. He was dressed in the 1970's hippie style.
"Thanks... nice threads. You know Sonny and Cher broke up, right?" I said.
"Sonny and Cher broke up?" the man asked us. I looked around to see everyone was dressed like that. I looked at the newspaper the man was reading. The headline read 'Nixon accepts resignation of top...' and the date was Monday, April 30, 1973. Another man entered the diner.
"Hey, Winchester." he said. Dean and the young man looked around. The Man shook the hand of the young man.
"Son of a bitch. How you doing, Corporal?" the man asked.
"Hey, Mr. D." the young man said.
"I heard you were back." Mr D said.
"Yeah, a little while now." the young man said.
"Good to have you home, John, damn good." Mr D said.
"Dad?" Dean said.
"Well, say hello to your old man for me." Mr D said.
"You got it, Mr. D." John said. He noticed us staring at him.
"Do we know each other?" John asked us.
"I guess not." I said. John got up to leave.
"Take it easy, pal." John said.
"Yeah." Dean said.
