Dean, Sam, and I were in some diner. Sam was on the phone while Dean was playing with the jukebox. I was sitting waiting for something to do.
"No, no, no, you're right, it's definitely weird. ...Okay, Bobby, thanks." Sam said and put the phone away. Dean walked back over.
"What's up?" Dean asked as he sat down and Sam started typing.
"Bobby found something in Wyoming." Sam said.
"A job?" Dean asked.
"Maybe." Sam said.
"Finally." I said. Dean started eating his burger.
"Small town, no one's died in the past week and a half." Sam said.
"That so unusual?" Dean asked.
"Well, it's how they're not dying. One guy with terminal cancer strolls right out of hospice." Sam said. I raised my brow, not seeing how this was odd.
"Another guy gets capped by a mugger and walks away without a scratch." Sam said.
"Capped in the ass?" Dean asked.
"Police say Mr. Jenkins was shot in the heart at point-blank range by a nine-millimeter." Sam said. I moved to his side of the table to see his laptop.
"And he's not a doughnut?" Dean asked, his mouth full of food.
"Locals are saying it's a miracle." Sam said.
"Okay." Dean said.
"It's got to be something nasty, right? I mean, people making deals or something." Sam said. Dean seemed to be considering it.
"You think?" he asked.
"What else would it be?" I asked.
"I don't know." Dean said.
"All right." Sam said and put his laptop in his bag. "Get that to go."
Dean looked down and didn't move.
"Come on." I said. Sam and I stood up but Dean didn't move. Sam looked at him while putting his bag over his shoulder.
"What?" Sam asked. Dean looked and kept chewing, glazed away and then back.
"Sure you want me going with you?" Dean asked.
"Why wouldn't I?" Sam asked.
"I don't want to be holding you back or nothing." Dean said.
"Oh my god." I said and walked out to the car, not wanting to hear the same argument again.
I sat on the hood of the Impala and waited for them to come out.
When they finally did, I got in the front seat and closed my door a little harder than normal, to show my displeasure with their ongoing arguments.
"Hey, careful." Dean said. I rolled my eyes and they got in and we left.
We made it to one of the victims, or non-victims house.
"Now, you three said you were bloggers?" Jim asked us.
"Yes, sir. Floored by the Lord dot com." Sam said.
"All of God's glory fit to blog." Dean said and grinned. Sam glanced at him and cleared his throat.
"Um. Some of the people around town are saying what happened to you was a miracle." I said, trying to bring everyone's attention back to the main issue.
"It was. Plain as day." Jim said.
"How can you be so sure?" Sam asked.
"How else do you explain it? The Doctors can't. There's a bullet in my heart, and it's pumping like a piston." Jim said.
