A frown marred my lips as I stared down at the paper in my hands. It had been weeks since I last properly spoke to Bella, and yet she had sent me an invitation to her graduation party that was supposed to happen in about a month.
It still felt so surreal, knowing she was about to graduate. I was also saddened by the fact that we barely talk anymore, but when I think about it this was bound to happen either way. Bella was never one to be forward with shit. You had to push her to do anything, and I had a feeling this wasn't of her on violation.
"What's that babe?" Paul asked from the hallway, a towel was wrapped around his middle as he had just gotten out of the shower. Droplets of water was pouring from his short hair and I chuckled at him in amusement.
"Couldn't put on clothes before coming out here, huh?" I teased him with a smirk, earning a smirk right back as he saunters over to me - trapping me against him and the counter.
"Why, doll? See something you like?" He teases back with a grin, leaning down to kiss me. Placing the invitation down onto the counter, I wrap my arms around his neck to kiss him back.
I pulled back a few moments later, snickering when he whined. "Always love," I kissed his nose as he relaxed against me, kissing my neck. "It's an invitation to Bella's graduation party," I informed him with a shrug, handing the invite over. "It says I can bring a plus one." Though everyone knew about my relationship with Paul by now around here.
Paul groans, though looks over the invite. "I can come with you," he sighs, giving me a look. "I know you want to go support your sister, but I'm not going to let you go in a vampires nest by yourself." He scowls at that thought, leaning down to kiss me again fully. "I'll get the day off so I can come. Sam will understand, especially since it's so far off in advance." Though Sam was usually accommodating if it was imprint related, considering he had one as well.
"Thanks babe," I give him a warm smile, kissing his cheek - knowing that being around the vampires was off-putting for him. I also knew the vampires felt the same way around the wolves. Despite the rivalry that the species seemed to have, I knew that they had a smell that was distinct from each of them. Wolves smelled like wet dogs to the vampires, while the vampires smelled like sickly sweet dead, whatever the hell that meant. "We shouldn't be there for long. I just want to see her before..." I trailed off with a frown, pursing my lips when Paul tensed.
Before she became a vampire.
Sighing, he gives me a sad look. "I wish there was something we could do doll..." He trails off with a wince, biting his lip anxiously.
"Me too..." I sighed, knowing there wasn't a single thing that could change Bella's mind about this. Nothing was going to change her mind about leaving her family behind for a undead being.
The sad thing was... I knew if Paul asked me to do it I would do the same thing.
The only difference was though Paul wasn't some undead being who lived off of blood. Animal or not. He was my warmth to knock away the darkness, and I was that to him. We made each other whole. The missing piece that the other needed in order to function properly. Paul could stop being a wolf when the time came.
Edward was forever stuck as a teenage vampire.
While I knew it was harsh to think of him that way, knowing that none of the Cullen's wanted the life they were living at the moment, that was just the cold hard truth. Paul could become human again, once the threat of vampires no longer concerned the reservation. Once the Cullen's were gone.
Which mean once Bella was gone, and I couldn't find myself being mad about that fact. She had made her bed.
Now she had to live in it.
N/A: So sorry for the short chapter!
I wanted to say thank you so so much for the support that I've been seeing! This has been such a great experience, and I have loved writing this fanfiction - even if I am dreading continuing to write it LMAO but I love Elaine and want to finish her story.
With that being said, I wanted to inform you guys, since I know most of you don't read my community posts on my profile, I am not writing Breaking Dawn. This has been a decision I made a long time ago. I had only wanted to write New Moon, but then Riley gave me a reason to write Eclipse, and Crystal made it even more so easier to write Eclipse with another factor to factor in. I do have a wedding chapter planned, and two epilogues to wrap things up - and I was thinking about writing a few one-shots for Lestiny (Leah and Destiny).
There is about... 6ish/7ish chapters give or take left and I am mildly surprised I have made it this far! This has been my biggest success yet writing anything, and it has given me a lot of practice for future projects :D
What would you guys wanna see next?
