"I don't see why I can't go alone," you complain as your older brother John puts on his jacket.
"Do you know how many perverts are out here nowadays? I'm not letting you go to the zoo alone."
You roll your eyes, marching out the door as he follows. He's always been like this. Ever since you were a little girl he'd stick by your side everywhere you went. Even though he's only one year older, he acts as if you're still a small child.
You halt a cab and climb in, staring out the window as John tells the driver where to go. You watch as buildings and people go by as the driver cruises through traffic. You haven't been to the zoo in ages and you're honestly extremely excited, even though John is tagging along like always.
"I don't see why you're so bloody mad," he comments as he looks at you. You look at his reflection in the mirror and sigh before turning to him.
"I'm mad because you're always tagging along when I just want to have a fun personal day. It's not your job to protect me. I can protect myself," you roll your eyes again before turning back to look out the window. The cab pulls into the zoo parking lot before letting you both out. You pay the fair and quickly walk to the ticket booth.
After purchasing your ticket you make you way into the zoo. The first exhibit you decide to look at is the Penguins. You work you way to the back of the zoo. John leisurely follows you. You smile as you watch the Penguins dive into the water and swim around.
"I haven't seen you smile in awhile. It's nice," John comments as he puts his arm around you. You shrug him off and head towards the polar bears. You watch as a worker tosses fish into the exhibit. The polar bears devour the fish within minutes before they dive into the water.
You spend the entire day walking around and looking at animals. You're exhausted when it's time to head back to the apartment you share with John and his boyfriend Sherlock. You wait to hail a cab. You get the brilliant idea to ditch John when he gets in the cab. When he steps into the cab you slam the door shut and tap the top, letting the driver know he can drive away.
It's only a twenty minute drive from the zoo back to the apartment. It wouldn't take very long if you walked back. You'd be back home by eleven if you're lucky. Maybe you'll hail a cab on the way instead. All you know is that you want some alone time.
You make it about five blocks away from the zoo before you decide to cut through an alley way, cutting back a little time. You quickly make you way into the alley, keeping your head low and your feet fast.
"Hey good looking," someone calls out from the darkness. Your head shoots up as you look around for the source of the voice, pausing only momentarily. You gulp as a man steps out of the shadows and holds up a knife, the metal blade glinting in the moon light.
You back away from him, keeping your eye on the blade. Your back runs into a brick wall, forcing you to stay still. You want to scream for help but you don't, knowing nobody would save you in time. Tears flow from your eyes as the man stands only a few inches from you. His hot breath fans across your face as his eyes scan over your body. Your leather jacket and sweater seem thin while your jeans and boots feel nonexistent.
He pulls your jacket off forcefully before running his hands over the curves of your breasts. You bite your lip and look away, trying not to scream as he gropes you while biting and licking your neck.
"Get off of her!" Johns voice echoes through the alley as footsteps come pounding towards you. You feel the sharp pain of the knife plunging into you. You faint at the sight of your own blood, falling with a thump to the concrete ground.
You awake in a white room filled with a beeping noise. You blink a few times, allowing you eyes to adjust to the brightness of the room. You take in the hospital room, scanning your eyes over everything. John and Sherlock sit on the couch softly chatting away.
"What happened?" You question, slowly sitting up.
"[Y/N], you're awake. Thank goodness," John comes quickly over to your side and grasps you hand while Sherlock goes to your other side and holds your other hand.
"You were stabbed by a junky," Sherlock sums up as he runs his thumb soothingly over your hand.
"How am I still alive?" You question, shaking your head.
"He didn't stab anything important. It didn't take me long to disarm and knockout the guy. Within minutes an ambulance and the police were there." John explains with a small smile.
Tears fill your eyes as you pull him in and give him a tight hug. You thank him repeatedly as you decide right then and there that you will never be upset when John tags along.
He's your savior after all.
