"Doctor, what are we doing today?" You question, leaning against the control panel.
"I don't have a clue, [Y/N]," he replies, a thoughtful look on his face as he thinks.
"Well, how about we return to London for a small bit? Give me a chance to say hello to my family and stuff. We haven't been there in a long time," you offer. He nods as he begins pushing buttons and pulling levers.
The TARDIS makes a swishing sound as its travels through time, putting you back in London. The date is 8-23-15. When you left it was 3-17-14. A year has passed since you have seen any of your family members. Now, you can see them again.
A smile appears on your face as you step back onto Earth soil, happy to be home. You breathe in the scent of fresh mildew, arriving home just after a rainy day. You suddenly become excited as you run down the street and towards your childhood home, where your parents surprisingly still live.
The Doctor follows closely behind, smiling at how happy and excited you are. You just can't contain it as you run up the steps and to the front door, not even bothering to knock on the unlocked door.
"Ma? Pa?" You call, wandering through the house. Silence follows. You become worried. You know they're home, seeing as they never leave the door unlocked when they leave. You search and search, fear coursing through your body. Finally, you find them.
You freeze as you stare at them from across the room. They're bound in ropes in the floor, back to back as strange men stand over them. You gasp, catching their attention. They spin around and face you, a menacing look in their eyes.
"So, the child returns," a deep voice growls, scaring you.
"I- uh," you stutter, unsure of what to do. They quickly grab you, dragging you towards your parents. They put a gag in your mouth and tie you up, forcing you to the floor.
The Doctor finally comes into the room, having just caught up to you. He pauses as he takes in the scene. The men stare at him, taking in his appearance.
"So, you're the magic man. I've heard of you," the same deep voice sounds, sending chills down your spine.
"There's nothing magic about it," the Doctor replies, eyeing the man. Before anyone can react, a shot sounds. You stare in horror as the Doctor falls to his knees. Yellow sparkles surround him as he begins to regenerate. Before he can finish, a second shot sounds, ending his life for good.
You cry as the man spins around, pointing the gun at you next. You squeeze your eyes shut as you wait for the bang. Your life flashes before your eyes as he pulls the trigger, ending your life as well.
Today is the day that humanity crumbled.
