I know we cut all the ties
but you're never really leaving
And part of me wants you back, but
I know it won't work like that

Eddie walked through the hospital door to Buck's room with a new cup of ice and a blanket that Buck requested.

Come to find out he only requested it so that he could get Eddie to leave and he could try to walk on his own.

"Seriously." Eddie deadpanned and quickly set the things down to help Buck out who was a few feet from the bed.

Eddie used one hand to grip Buck's shoulder and the other one on his chest to keep him from falling over. "I got it." Buck tried to push Eddie away but all he did was firm up his grip.

Buck stumbles lightly making Eddie's face harden and him force him over to his bed. Buck plops down on it, out of breath and upset. "Thanks." He mutters.

"You could've waited till I got back and I would have walked with you. Or I could have pushed you around in a wheelchair if you wanted to look around." Eddie says as he helps Buck get back into the bulk of his bed. "So many other options." Buck leans against it with his head thrown back. Eddie throws all the covers over him and then hands him the ice cubes.

"I just want to get out of this hell hole." Buck complains while throwing an ice cub in his mouth. Eddie sits down in the chair next to his bed and raises his feet to prop them up on the bed. "I'm so bored. I thought Jo and Chris were coming." Buck groans while looking at Eddie.

Eddie puts on a fake hurt face and grabs at his chest. "Am I not enough for you?"

"Of course you are." Buck says sarcastically with a straight face.

Eddie rolls his eyes. "I told them that they could come after school. They've missed too many days already and—"

"Wow, father of the year right here." Buck claps his hands together, earning a kick from Eddie.

"Yeah, you should tell that to Jo. She—"

Buck shakes his "Do you two ever not argue?"

"Would you stop interrupting me?" The two bickered back and forth like an old married couple. "Anyways, we were arguing because she just wanted to skip school and come straight here and see you. Chris was easier, especially because he likes school. But Jo was just going on and on, and finally, I told her to stop and go get ready."

Buck nods to Eddie which makes Eddie keep talking. "And then I was making breakfast for Chris and I heard Josie yell at someone in her room. So of course like the father I am, I walked in there and asked who she was talking to. The argument just worsened from there, and eventually, I made her walk to school."

"You made her walk to school?"

Eddie shrugs and looks at his hands. "She wanted to, and she was running late and I didn't need Chris late as well."

Buck takes a breath out and then closes his eyes. "God I'm glad my parents didn't care about me. That all sounds exhausting." He says calmly making Eddie raise his head and look at him with a wild look on his face.

"Oh."

It's about 3 when she wipes her eyes and throws the rest of the bread to the ducks that have floated across the pond, staring at her from afar. She stands up and starts her walk back to her school.
