"Trust that you betrayed,
confusion that still lingers
Took everything I loved and
crushed it in between your fingers"
── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✩ ── ⋅ ⋅ ──"Look at him. I feel like I won the lottery. Our son seems happy." Eddie says as he lays halfway up and halfway down on a beach towel next to Shannon. Shannon switches between looking at Chris who is building a sand castle and Jo who is playing volleyball with a group of kids who invited her over. "I swear, that kid was born happy."
"I have no idea where he gets it." Shannon points out, looking over Eddie's body to Josie who stands next to 2 boys. His eyes fall to Eddie's who are staring at her with offense.
"From me."
"Oh, you? Mr. Broody?"
Shannon and Eddie both chuckle and then look back at their son happily.
Eddie cocks his head cockily with a smirk painting his mouth. "Well, hopefully, he gets your brains. He can't get by just on my good looks."
"Oh, nice. Good one."
A few seconds of comfortable silence goes by before Eddie softly says. "He loves having you around."
"Does he?"
"We all do. Jo seems happy, where ever she is." Eddie slightly sits up to look for his daughter.
Shannon points over to the volleyball court. "She's over there flirting with some boys."
If looks could kill, the whole beach would be dead.
His head quickly swivels over to the court, and as his body lurches up, he has strong desires to go over there and grab his daughter but a hand on his chest stops him.
"Relax. We were doing that when we were her age."
Eddie scrunches his eyebrows down and tilts his head at Shannon. "We were also having a kid."
Shannon smiles gratefully and then leans down for a kiss from Eddie. It lasts about 2 seconds before she pulls away, slightly scoffing. "What are we doing?"
"What do you mean?"
"I need to know what you want." Shannon started, looking over to her son.
Eddie looks out onto the ocean, tracing over his son and daughter. "I want this. I want to have a nice day on the beach with my son and daughter and his mother."
Shannon rolls her eyes but remains calm. "Okay. So, is that what I am to you? Their mother?"
Eddie throws his head back with a groan.
"Because, hey, if that's what it is, it's fine. I just- I need to know."
"Shannon, I don't know. These last months have been good. Really good. I don't know. Guess I'm just waiting for a sign. Something to know which way to step." Eddie rasps out while looking over to his son.
Shannon takes a deep breath in, staring at the ocean, trying to calm her nerves. "I think I might be pregnant."

"You sure I'm not in your hair?" Eddie picks up a string of beads for Bobby's table which is crowded with wedding stuff.
Bobby sighs and closes his folder of papers, preparing for another long conversation. "It's fine."
