The next day unfolded with an air of anticipation as Furie, eschewing her usual routine, enjoyed her weekend at home. In the quiet of her kitchen, she sat alone with Tomy laying at her feet, savoring her breakfast, the necklace nestled against her skin. The desire to connect with Leaf tugged at her, prompting her to touch the pendant and attempt telepathic communication. "Leaf," she thought, focusing her thoughts on the Guardian.
Almost immediately, Leaf's voice echoed in her mind, "Furie, I'm in the Guardian's library. It's magnificent, filled with ancient knowledge and wisdom. I've found a couple of books that might hold answers about half Guardians and their connection to both worlds." As Leaf continued to share details about the library and how beautiful it was, Furie felt a sense of reassurance. The telepathic link bridged the gap between their worlds, allowing her to be part of Leaf's exploration even from the confines of her kitchen.
Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted their conversation. Startled, Furie glanced towards the entrance, her senses on high alert. Tomy, sensing something amiss, barked fiercely, his growls resonating through the house. Leaf's voice echoed in her mind, "What's happening, Furie?"
A disconcerting realization struck her as she glimpsed the visitor through the peephole—a lady with amber eyes, the same stranger who had unsettled Furie at the coffee place. Before she could respond to Leaf, the lady spoke through the door. "Hello, I was hoping we could talk. I have some information," she said. Tomy, agitated and protective, continued to growl, his stance defensive.
Furie quickly explained the situation to Leaf and in a telepathic whisper, Leaf urged, "Be cautious, Furie. Tell her you have friends coming over soon. We don't want her around." The description of the visitor made Leaf worrying and Furie felt unsettled by his fear. Her guts and her friend were both telling her to not trust the stranger, therefore she had to find a way to get rid of her.
Sensing the urgency in Leaf's message, Furie quickly fabricated a story. "I'm sorry, but I have friends coming to visit soon. Can we talk another time?" The lady, her amber eyes narrowing slightly, attempted to continue the conversation, but Furie firmly declined. As the tension in the room heightened, Furie's neighbor who was working in her garden, drawn by Tomy's persistent barks, approached the scene. Concern etched across her face, the neighbor inquired, "Is everything okay, Furie?"
Before Furie could respond, the lady with amber eyes, seemingly unnerved by the additional presence, swiftly made her exit, disappearing into the distance. She did not walk toward the road and the town, but directed herself towards the forest. Tomy, still on edge, gradually quieted, the threat seemingly averted. Furie, left to process the unusual encounter, felt a mix of relief and lingering unease. Leaf, through their telepathic link, reassured her, "Stay vigilant, Furie. I'll return soon with the books from the library. We'll piece together the mysteries surrounding you and find the answers we seek."
As the day unfolded, Furie awaited Leaf's return, her home a haven of quiet anticipation and the lingering echoes of an encounter that had brought with it a mysterious intrusion into her ordinary life.
