Summer 1967
After saying goodbye to Bobby a few months ago, I had a wonderful idea.
Lilith and I were having breakfast, or rather night time. It was 2:55 a.m. and we had packed our things yesterday. My idea back then was to go on vacation, but without a specific destination.
Our motto will be 'The journey is the destination'. Lilith and I just drove off with Baby and saw where it would take us. She was so excited and actually convinced me to drive at night because she had always wanted to do it. So we sat here, having a night-breakfast. Shortly before our trip, which will be unforgettable.
She spoke in a tour and I didn't even get involved.

By now we had been driving for 7 hours and had decided to head west. The first stop was in Colorado. It was beautiful there, mountains reaching into space and pure nature. Lilith loved it, we went hiking and she discovered lots of beautiful flowers. This silence was like a dream and nature was so untouched, everything was illuminated by the sun. Later we ate our dinner on a mountain by a lake, it was a sunset. The most beautiful I had ever seen in my life. Lilith fell asleep on my lap and I lay on my back. The next day we drove further, but this time for longer. Lilith had summer vacation, but not long enough to travel for several days. The deal was that she said if she wanted to stay, otherwise we would move on. It was 12 hours today and we landed in Las Vegas. However, we didn't stay there long, it was a huge city that Lilith didn't like. We looked for a shabby hotel and left early in the morning because it was too loud to sleep at night. Lilith slept completely through the next day while driving, I was dead tired.
After about 6 hours we arrived in California.
The weather was beautiful, the sky was bluer than ours and the people were even happier.
I had to smile. She woke up and looked outside, she turned to me and started smiling too.
"Dean, we're here."
I nodded because I had guessed it. I looked for the nicest hotel by the sea, we deserved it. But it was still the middle of the day, so I took her to a very fancy and expensive one Restaurant.
It was actually under our hotel and was part of it, with a clear view of the sea. I was so tired that I almost fell asleep waiting for the food. I was startled when the waiter appeared next to us with our food. Lilith squirmed I put the food in and was completely occupied with it. I looked around the area while I was eating to get a good feel for it. My thoughts were on our car ride, we had been singing and laughing a lot.
We were sitting near the entrance, our table was during the main course.
Some people walked past and suddenly something changed.
I looked up and it took a moment.
That smell, I knew that smell from somewhere.
I sat with my back to the door, so I didn't see who came in at first. My heart skipped a beat, of course. I knew that smell, it was Cas' smell.
I turned around suddenly. He walked towards the counter, a few men walked with him. His hair was longer and curlier, it made me smile.
But he was still wearing his trench coat.
I watched the four of them a little longer and noticed that Cas was acting strangely.
He looked around tensely several times, as if he were looking for help. His entire body language spoke for it, but his facial expressions didn't. That really confused me, especially because I was so tired.
Lilith pulled my arm.
"Dean, Dean, can I have dessert?"
I laughed loudly, she really ate a lot.
I immediately ordered her dessert, I looked behind me again, but Cas was gone.
I had a strange feeling, but I've had that often enough. Lilith was ready and we went to our room. It was now a little later and I collapsed onto the bed.

I woke up and it was almost completely dark. Lilith lay sleeping next to me.
I didn't know why I was awake, it was very quiet. But when I tried to sleep again, I heard loud voices. I immediately went to the window, there were 4 people standing on the beach, they looked like men. I didn't see much, so I checked on Lilith and went outside. However, I hid.
It was Cas again with these men, they gave him something and told him loudly that he was burying it in the sand. He turned around and began to bury it. The men laughed and nodded at each other. The biggest man suddenly started kicking Cas in the back and the next man pulled him back and then punched him.
It all happened so quickly, he was lying on the floor huddled together and the three of them didn't stop.
After my shock, I ran. They didn't see me coming, I hit first and then everyone ran away.
I immediately knelt down next to Cas and turned him to face me, but he held his hands in front of his face.
"Cas, Cas they're gone."
He tried to get up, but he couldn't do it very well. He was about to fall over, I caught him and he started to cry.
"Dean?"
I took him in my arms and he held me tight.
Very tight, as if he was trying to stop me from leaving.
"I was so scared"
After almost a year of him being gone and I thought he would live a happy life, he was here and scared. One of the first words to me were these, it broke my heart.
I broke away from him, wiped away the tears and pulled him along.
Now it was completely dark outside, I could see the stars very well. This was definitely not like the last time.
When I got to the room, I asked him several times what was going on, but he didn't say anything else. He was really upset and didn't look at me for long.
Something had happened, but I didn't know how to find out. I gave him some of my clothes, his were completely dirty from the argument.

I was woken up by Lilith, she shook me slightly and whispered something.
"What?"
"Why is Uncle-Castiel here?"
I sat up and explained it to her in a child-friendly way. She made a quiet 'aha' look on her face and went into the bathroom.
He woke up and immediately got dressed, looking like he wanted to leave.
"Cas?"
He looked at me, but he didn't look at me, as if he was seeing through me. I pulled him by the hand into the kitchen to the table, he understood and so I made us all breakfast.
It wasn't very chatty, no one was talking and Castiel had eaten almost nothing.
Of course I wanted to know what was going on, but he wouldn't tell me. The best thing I could do was distract him and show him that he won't be alone. So I stood up and gave him his trench coat. Lilith got dressed without saying anything and we went out.
It was beautiful Californian weather and I drove into the mountains with the two of them.
We walked there for a few minutes and on the right, between all the bright green trees, we could see something else. Lots of bright colors.
Cas went there without saying anything, he avoided the nettle and pushed the branches aside. Lilith and I followed him, I watched as he walked through the field of flowers hidden behind the trees. He reached down and touched each flower.
Until he stopped and watched the bees, Lilith held on to me and played with the flowers at the same time. Cas fell on the ground between all the flowers, Lilith ran after him, laughed and then disappeared too. I slowly walked towards the two of them, both of them looking at the clouds.
Cas's t-shirt had ridden up a little and I could see some bruises. I was worried, but I didn't let it show.
So I lay down and there we lay
