Weeks had already passed, we were back in Kansas and Lilith had school. Cas stayed in a hotel, but that was okay with me. I was friends with the owners. I visited him as best I could, but I couldn't let my band down, we were making it bigger than ever at the moment.
I spent the rest of the summer at concerts, band events and at Cas's hotel. Lilith was always with me, she wasn't allowed to stay alone.
She actually stayed with Cas from time to time, but she quickly got bored there.
She was an adrenaline junkie.
I was on the way to pick up Lilith again, today there was dinner with the band, unfortunately she couldn't come with us. I heard AC/DC and turned right towards the hotel. I had a second key because it usually got late and I didn't want to wake everyone up. So I went in, very carefully I pushed open the door to the room and my eyes began to adjust to the darkness.
I saw Cas and Lilith, they were both sleeping peacefully, I looked at the old Saba alarm clock. It was late, 1:57 at night.
I briefly thought about why I was driving here and immediately turned around.
There was a rustling sound and I looked at the bed. Cas moved, he pulled his arm out from under Lilith's head and sat upright. He rubbed his eyes and I whispered a quiet
"I'm sorry."
Then he stared at me for a moment and shook his head before he got up and walked over to me.
He carefully took my hand, waited a moment and then pulled me back again. He pointed to the empty seat next to Lilith and I sat down.
He smiled and went into another room without saying a word. I looked at Lilith and pulled the blanket a little higher.

I woke up to sirens, it took me a moment to realize where I was. I sat down suddenly and looked around the room. Lilith turned around and looked at me questioningly.
Then I saw Cas, he was laying on the cramped little couch, fast asleep.
I must have fallen asleep, he hadn't woken me up. Without thinking, I went into the kitchen and made breakfast with what was there. Lilith helped me and spoke enthusiastically about what she had experienced yesterday.
They went to the petting zoo and then had ice cream, she had chocolate and woodruff with sprinkles. Cas had two scoops of cookie ice cream and also with sprinkles. My favorite flavor was also cookie, so I had to smile a little.
But before breakfast was even ready the doorbell rang, it was Sam and Gabriel.
They had someone with them.
A girl, she had long brown hair and green eyes.
"Hii, I'm Hailey, and so you're Dean?"
I looked between everyone in disbelief.
"Yes, I am" and so I immediately turned back, stared at the pancakes and thought for a moment. Sam came to me and whispered something to me.
"I met her during our vacation, she's great." "Sam, this isn't your hotel room."
He laughed, patted my shoulder and went back to Gabriel and Hailey.

Hailey immediately became friends with Lilith and Cas was awake by now too. I had made a little more breakfast and so there were six of us sitting here. We talked for a bit and I noticed Hailey was like the sun. She was beaming, I had never seen anything like that before.
She suggested going to the theme park and I immediately agreed.
To my surprise, everyone agreed, especially Lilith. She didn't talk about anything else the whole way there, as I said. Adrenaline junkie.
We arrived around midday, it wasn't as crowded as expected, Lilith took my hand and immediately pulled me to the carousel.
I paid her for three rounds, but Hailey came with her. The two had a lot of fun on this horse carousel. I had to laugh just from watching.
Sam and Gabriel came to me, they looked at me and laughed with me.
"Well like I said, she's great."
"Yes Sam, she is,", I replied immediately.
We had a really great day, I went to a lot of attractions and our bellies were full of sweets.
By now it was late in the evening and I was carrying Lilith in my arms, she had already fallen asleep. We still laughed a lot and stayed for a while.

We were on the way to our cars and I talked to Hailey for a bit. I took her with me because she asked me to. She told me a lot about her life, she was like an open book.
I really liked that, I really liked her.
I had been watching Cas all day, I think he likes this amusement park too. But he looked worried and I could guess what he was thinking.
"Hey Dean, can I sit in the front?" Hailey asked, already making her way to the front door.
I answered without hesitation,
"No, I'm sorry, but Cas is sitting there."
She stopped abruptly, she didn't look angry.
On the contrary, more understanding.
I turned to Cas and made a ‚walk-forward-motion'.He grinned at me as if I had rescued a baby cat.

The weeks went by and the six of us spent more and more time together. It was a great time, a really great time. Today we sat outside in the forest, around a campfire, made stick bread and told each other stories. It started with horror stories and ended with deep talk. Sam was a little tipsy and was moving his upper body back and forth.
"Dean raised me and he did better than our parents ever could."
"Sam!"
"No Dean, they're gone, they just left us as kids. Damn Dean, you were just a kid."
"Sam, they died, nobody chose that. But look where we are, look around. Everything worked great, just you and me against the rest of the world Sammy"
I had processed everything long ago, I'm glad to have Sammy, That was all that mattered. It was lucky that Lilith was already asleep in the tent.
I saw Gabriel out of the corner of my eye looking over at Cas and then laughing and whispering something in Hailey's ear.
I knew Gabriel by now, it certainly wasn't anything nice.
I looked at Cas and saw him staring at the floor in front of him, his stick bread completely burnt and a single tear falling from his eyes.
The others noticed it too, it became dead quiet. He got up and went into the forest, I followed him.
"Cas, hey, wait!"
He stopped, but covered his face with his hands. "I'm sorry", he whispered as I walked towards him.
"Hey, come here"
I took him in my arms and he started crying even harder. I didn't dare ask, he would tell me when he was ready.
"What if I can't do it?"
I pulled away from him and looked directly into his blue eyes.
"You will be happy, you will be able to be happy again and experience many beautiful days. The love that you have and still have to find, It's worth holding on. It's not over for you yet."
He nodded slightly and wiped away his tears.
"It won't be easy Cas, I can't and won't tell you it will be easy. But I am here and I will help you." He looked at me and took a deep breath and then exhaled.
"Thank you."
I grinned and wiped away the last tear.
We walked back, I hadn't noticed at first that he had talked. But I didn't make a big deal about it, he should feel like it was completely normal.
