The room was small, but I chose the nicest one, furnished in a simple and minimalist way.
It was already late, so we got ready for bed straight away. I changed into my pajamas and lay down on the only double bed in the room.
When I was half asleep, Cas came out of the bathroom, he saw me and stopped abruptly.
I turned and had to smile,
"Why are you still standing there, you must be tired"
He hesitantly walked off and I slammed my hand on the bed next to me as a come-here sign.I don't know what time it was when I was woken up by a faint noise. It was Cas, he had put on his trench coat and crept towards the door. Confused, I rolled over and tried to sleep.
I woke up with a start, why did I want to sleep? Cas was gone.
I quickly put on my jacket and shoes and went about it.
The corridor was pitch black and dead quiet.
On the way to the exit I looked for Cas,
but I couldn't find him. I opened the door and cold night air hit my face.
I saw him a few meters away, sitting on a bench and looking up."Cas?"
He turned to me and smiled wearily.
"Hey, what are you doing here? Could not you sleep ?"
I walked up to him and sat next to him,
he nodded.
He looked up again, me too, to see what he was watching.
The stars, beautiful, bright stars.
I looked at Cas, the moon shone a little in his face and it threw a slight shadow.
His blue eyes really came into their own.
Now I smiled too.
Cas saw me staring in the corner of his eye, because he suddenly turned to me and looked me over from top to bottom.
We sat there for a long time and watched the stars, it was pleasantly quiet and the cool air smelled like a summer night.
It was perfect, just perfect.
Without him I would never have seen the beauty of the stars, I didn't look at the sky often.
This night was so clear, stars so bright, as if made for us.
I wondered what Gabriel meant,
'Oh the Lord can talk'
But I shook off that thought, wanting to enjoy the moment.
It was like one of those moments everyone was talking about, it was called
'the calm before the storm'
But maybe there wasn't a storm at all.
I looked around and saw a small path surrounded by trees leading up a mountain.
"Come with me"
He looked at me questioningly, but I took his arm and pulled him with me.
It was getting cooler, he had pulled his jacket over his hands, but continued to follow me.
We walked along a narrow, steep, overgrown path. It was so narrow that we had to walk one behind the other.
It crunched under our feet because there were stones, roots and leaves. There was a junction that led to a kind of high cliff, I hadn't even noticed that we were already that high.
I ran and Cas followed me, good that our hotel was in the mountains.
The view was beautiful, if it were light we could see the other mountains.
But it was pitch black, so the stars were even better to see, I sat on one of the rocks and let my feet hang down. I looked up at Cas, his gaze towards the sky and again the moonlight was perfect in his face.
He caught me staring again, I just smiled and he returned it.
Finally he sat down next to me and also let his legs hang down. After some time of peaceful silence, I watched as he fought the weariness, but after repeated inquiries he still didn't want to leave.
I put my arm around him and I pulled, he rested his head on my shoulder and was right in dreamland. That didn't come as a surprise to me, as tired as he was I knew it.
I had to hold him tighter as he relaxed so much that he would have slipped down otherwise.
He breathed slowly and evenly, his body getting heavier and heavier.
The temperature was slowly reaching its lowest point, but his body heat warmed me up a bit.I was sitting at the desk in our hotel room. Several weeks had already passed and we had developed a kind of routine. We went up the mountain every night and looked at the night sky, it was beautiful, like enchanted.
I had to go back soon, we toured different cities as a band.
So I sat there with my head resting on my arm and my eyes toward the window.
The weather was not so nice, it was raining, the sky was cloudy and it was very windy.
But I didn't look out the window to see the bad weather, I watched Cas.
He was sitting on the street in the rain, leaning back on his hands and looking up.
He smiled?
Sometimes I didn't understand him, but it was nice to watch him do it, he looked happy.
I couldn't understand it, I personally hated the rain, wet, cold and everything was sticky afterwards. He sat in the rain voluntarily and he seemed to enjoy it.
Some leaves fell down in the rain, we were in the middle of the forest.
I was about to put my notepad in the drawer,
so I looked away, smiling, opening the drawer and putting my pad inside.
Just as I was about to get up, something in the drawer caught my eye, I didn't realize it until then, so I opened it again and took it out.
It was a picture, painted by someone.
I took a closer look and sat down on the bed because there was better light.
Sitting cross-legged, i analyzed every single point, it was..
We
Cas and I, on the mountain between the big green trees. He was in my arms, that's how it was drawn, just like it was a few weeks ago.
Even a starry sky, beautiful.
But one thing was different, he was pointing at the stars and I was looking at him.
At that time he was sleeping.
The picture looked like true art,
as if drawn by an artist, accurate to the line and not a single mistake.
I wanted to steal it, but it was his, it even had his name on the back
"Castiel Novak".
I would never have thought that he could paint, not a little, but really well.
Didn't he have any mistakes?
Except that he obviously didn't want to talk,
but there was a reason for that.
I just had to find out. I looked through the window again, he was lying down and his eyes were closed.
I had to smile again, such an idiot, but a cute idiot. So I decided for the only right thing, I went to him.
I put on my shoes and jacket and walked down the hall, pausing once more before opening the door to the rain-cold-wet-grey world.
My legs started to walk, I opened the door and walked towards Cas.
Luckily, the roads were hardly used at all.
I lay down without saying a word, the cold rain fell on my face, my god it was disgusting.
But I closed my eyes, it was surprisingly beautiful after a while, like a kind of meditation. Then my cell phone rang and I answered it.
