[present day]
The Pogues didn't waste any time, not bothering to go home and shower, heading right for the Sheriff's office. The look on Shoupe's face when they barged into his office, soaked in sewage water and covered in dirt, was priceless.
The face he made when JJ dropped the gun on his desk, was less priceless.
The man looks at all four teens, in confusion, as they watch and wait for his response.
"So, y'all are telling me this is the firearm that Rafe Cameron killed Peterkin with?" He asked, skeptically.
"That's exactly what we're telling you, Shoupe." JJ confirms.
"And the exact same firearm that Ward just used to kill Gavin." Pope adds.
Shoupe opens his mouth to say something, immediately stopping himself, and shaking his head. "And where's that corpse again?"
Abby scoffs. "Didn't you look?" Kiara asks.
"I checked the hospital." Shoupe tells them. Pope turns to JJ, whose clenching his jaw. "I went by his house, he was out."
"Are you kidding—" Abby begins, voice being drown out by Kiara and JJ.
"He was out?"
"No shit, Shoupe! Because he's dead!" JJ says, loudly.
"Just listen to yourself, it makes perfect sense!" Kiara says, continuing to talk over JJ.
"Just because he's not in his damn home, does not mean he was the victim of a homicide." Shoupe tells them, raising his voice to silence the teenagers in his office.
"What are you talking about?" Kiara shrieks.
"Then where is he?" Abby snaps.
"I told you this was gonna happen — you gotta be kidding me!" JJ says to Pope.
"Are you at least gonna send it in for ballistics and shit, or are you just gonna sit on your ass?" Kiara asks, rudely.
"No, he's gonna sit there and wax that damn mustache — is that even real?" JJ exclaims.
