Akira sat on the couch, sunlight filtering into the room as he poured over his book. Anya danced around, pretending to be Bondman and shooting at him when she thought he wasn't looking.

"Stop it," Akira batted blindly at the air.

"I wasn't doing anything!" Anya protested loudly.

"Shh," Franky grumbled as he was watching over them since both Loid and Yor were busy with their work and school hadn't started yet. "I'm trying to watch TV."

Anya rolled her eyes, "We should watch Spywars!"

"No."

"Yes!"

Akira ignored them, his fingers moving along the worn pages of the book he was reading. It was the one he'd gotten for Christmas since he hadn't started his new one yet.

"TV is bad for your eyes," Franky was lecturing Anya.

Anya glared back, "What about you!?"

"I already broke them," Franky announced, "so it doesn't apply to me."

Akira frowned, "Sure does."

"That's not fair!" Anya agreed.

Franky let out a loud groan and looked up at the ceiling. "What trouble six year olds are these days."

"Well, you're not letting us watch Spywars!" Anya objected. "You're trouble!"

"Us?" Akira questioned dimly. "Since when?"

Anya scrambled over to him and hopped onto the couch, whispering "quietly" to pretend.

"Uh huh," Akira said. "Yeah. Okay. Anya's correct."

Franky grumbled and reached for the remote but instead of switching to Anya's channel, he turned it off.

"Whhhhaaaatttt!?" Anya collapsed on the couch and buried her head in the cushions with an over dramatic moan. "Noooooooo faaaiiirrr!!"

Franky stood and stretched, "We should go outside. Your dad won't want you cramped in a room all day."

"Really?" Akira said. "Seems okay to me."

"You're unexperienced," Franky shrugged. "We could go down to the park if you guys want."

Anya complained the whole way there while Akira trailed behind them, a few paces slower, still holding a book in one hand. Half of his mind was focused on not ramming into a pole and the other half on understanding why the main character in this story was so aggravatingly stupid. Hooray.

When they got there, Anya stared out at the field of grass that stretched far and beyond Akira's eyesight. "Boring," she stated.

"At least look around or something!" Franky waved his hands around. "There! See!"

Akira blinked, gazing off at the direction he was pointing to. "Right... a tree. Don't tell me that's why I walked all the way here for."

"No!" Franky said, glowering. "Why does Tw-Loid have to give me the job of babysitting?"

"I don't know either," Akira responded. "You kind of suck at it, not gonna lie."

Franky scowled, "Thanks a lot. Positive talk is what I need right now." He sat down and sighed. "At least run around a bit."

Anya scampered over to Akira and hit him so hard on the back that his book flopped out of his hand and onto the grass. He yelped and leapt away, rubbing the spot where he'd been brutally attacked.

"What was that for!?" He hissed.

Anya beamed, "You're it!"

They stopped at the bread shop before returning home, both of them picking out one that they liked. Halfway on the road back home, Akira realized he forgot his book and quickly returned to the park, grabbing it and starting on the way back once more. Of course, with Franky and Anya by his side. They couldn't risk losing him without getting killed or worse by Loid or Yor. It was getting obvious that Franky absolutely adored the job of taking care of them.

"I'm just glad you guys came out of today alive," Franky breathed when he unlocked the door and hurried Akira and Anya in.

Akira found himself back onto his spot by the couch and Anya hogged the TV by the two seconds they were back inside.

Franky grunted, "Fine. This one time."

Anya shook her head, "One!? Two."

"No way."

"Three!" Anya said gleefully.

Franky stared, "You're going up!"

"Four! Twenty seven!"

"What?" Akira muttered.

"Fine, fine," Franky said under his breath. "Four."

Anya pouted, "I said twenty seven though."

"And skipped twenty three other numbers in between," Akira noted. "Glad to know that you can count. Now I don't need to worry about your failing the exams at Eden and getting kicked out."

"What!?" Anya demanded. "Exams!? Really!? Are you lying!?"

"Maybe," Akira said.

Anya crossed her arms, "You'll help me, right?"

"Once I know you can count, then yes," Akira said grudgingly.

"I can count!" Anya protested.

Akira raised an eyebrow, "Shocker."

Anya huffed and turned to the TV which was now starting a new episode of Spywars. After a few seconds, Anya had probably already forgotten about the past conversation they'd just had.

Franky grumbled, "When is Loid coming back?"

The door creaked open, revealing a dark room with the three occupants lying around, asleep and silent.

A smile crossed his face.

"We're home."
