OLIVER POV
Junior year was about to start. I had quite literally gotten up 5 minutes ago, quickly put on my preplanned first day of school outfit (a black shirt that read Converse and jeans), and made my way downstairs. My mom had her scrubs on, and she was packing herself and us a lunch.
"Hey honey," she said, cutting up some tomatoes to put in our sandwiches.
I made my way into the kitchen, giving her a quick squeeze while grabbing a bowl from the cupboard aside her.
"Working a 12 today?" I asked her.
She worked at the hospital in our town. She was a nurse, who worked in the pediatric department. She usually worked 12 hour shifts.
"You bet ya," she said, finally closing the brown lunch sack. "Where's Lilly?"
"No idea," I said, taking a bite of my cereal, "You know how she is. She can never seem to snooze enough,"
Lilly was my twin sister, who seemed to be the opposite of me. She wasn't going to be up until the very last minute, but hey, she always seemed to make it on time.
I continued to munch on my cereal and scroll through my phone, when I heard a door close upstairs and fast steps move down the stairs.
"Hey everyone," Lilly said, seemingly unfazed by her late appearance.
"I got your lunches here," mom said, "I gotta go wake up Elle soon and get her ready for daycare,"
I also had a younger sister named Elle, who had a different dad than me and Lilly. It was weird though, I feel like me and Elle looked more alike than me and Lilly did. "You must have a very specific type," I told my mom once. She rolled her eyes at me.
"Thanks!" Lilly said, putting her lunch into her backpack, and biting into a granola bar. "Ready, Oliver?"
She looked at me, with her blue eyes beaming at me. Even though we were twins, we couldn't look more different. I had dark brown eyes and hair, while she was a blonde. The only thing we had in common were our curls.
"Bye mom!" I said, slinging my backpack over my shoulders and grabbing my shoes to put on in the car.
"Have a good first day!" She yelled back as we made our way out the door.
I got into the driver's seat, driving this time. Me and Lilly switched off. A great perk of being a twin is having to share a car. I didn't blame my mom though, I was grateful for everything she did. Me or Lilly could buy our own car when we started working.
It had only been us 4 for as long as I can remember, besides when Elle's dad was in the picture, but that wasn't very long. He left shortly after he found out my mom was pregnant.
Guys are stupid.
So, why did I like them so much?We pulled up to West Creek High School. As soon as we got out of the car, Lilly found her friends. Lilly and I were close, but we had different friend groups. We'd still talk occasionally at school, but just hung out in different crowds.
I made my way to my locker, which luckily was closer to the entrance than last year's.
"Right next to each other again!" My best friend, Kate, said. My last name was Monroe, and hers was Moss, so we were usually very close to each other.
"Ready for another year?" I asked Kate.
We'd been best friends for years now, ever since middle school. We both somehow ended up becoming friends in our awkward stages of life. She was short, had black hair, and wore the best outfits you could imagine.
